When Patric entered the Greenfield Gardens, his eyes quickly darted around the place.
This villa was definitely Maja's style.
But he found himself freezing at that thought. He didn't really know Maja well before; how could he be so certain about her preferences?
His forehead creased, he heard Ian call out from nearby, "Come and check on her."
Patric found it amusing. Why should he care about this woman's well-being?
Maybe if she died, Eric would finally disappear.
He stayed at a distance, not planning on getting any closer.
But he found himself involuntarily glancing at Maja, who was lying on the couch and seemed to be in great pain, her forehead dripping with sweat.
Ian was constantly by her side, wiping her sweat and holding her hand.
Patric found himself walking closer, taking a few more glances.
"Did she eat anything recently?"
Ian quickly asked Maja in a low voice.
"Maja, did Mr. K feed you anything while you were with him?"
Maja slowly nodded, recalling the strange pills she had been given.
"I took some pills a few times. I don't know what they were, but one of them was a poison that could kill me in an hour."
She was too weak from the pain, barely managing to hold onto Ian's hand.
Ian turned to Patric, "Do you think we should draw her blood for a test? See if there are any residual drugs in her system."
Patric, however, just sat down nearby, his tone nonchalant.
"What's the point of me checking? I don't know anything about medicine."
Realizing he had let slip, he shrugged.
"I feel like there are so many voices in my head, I'm becoming more irritable, more suspicious than before. I've even hurt Ian. I thought he wasn't him."
Patric raised his eyebrows, clearly puzzled.
"How were you sure it wasn't him?"
"The house in Greenfield Gardens was my design. I personally handpicked the wooden floor from Crystalbrook Valley. I knew the moment I touched the floor that it wasn't made of the wood I had selected. I thought I had been taken somewhere else. Someone had meticulously created an environment similar to Greenfield Gardens. I smelled something different about Ian. His scent was not the same."
As she spoke, sweat poured down her face.
Ian cradled her in his arms, gently patting her back and wiping the sweat from her forehead.
Patric asked Eric in his mind.
"What do you think?"
There was a pause before Eric answered in a serious tone.
"Back when I was at the research base, there was a drug with a similar effect. But that drug is not available for purchase. Only the people at the research base have access to it, and not everyone either, only those in managerial positions. It can be integrated into anything and is specifically used to control people with high IQ."
