Maja really had no clue if Neil had called Holden again. She was just feeling wiped out. 

She had heard now that lan had gone to the Pennyfeather family that night and even pressured them. He probably loathed his wife in name only even more now. Her father always did things that made her cringe. 

But Maja knew better than to show her discontent with her father in front of Tricia, who would be thrilled. 

“Alright, got it.” 

She walked past Tricia, about to leave. 

Tricia couldn’t believe her reaction. 

Her relationship with Neil had always been tense. How could she not blame Neil now that she knew he had contacted Holden behind her back?

“Maja, Mr. Raymond was in this hotel with other women last night.” 

She said this because she was sure Maja was not with lan.

“I know, I was in the same room with him last night.” 

This comment, mundane as it was, struck Tricia like a sharp knife. 

Tricia was momentarily speechless, standing there in a daze. 

As she saw Maja about to leave, she blurted out in a panic. “How could you!” 

Realizing her tone was too harsh, she softened her voice, “How could you and Mr. Raymond share a room. He doesn’t like you. Sis, you don’t have to treat yourself this way for the Pennyfeather family. I know you’re just avoiding to go against dad. 

Maja seemed puzzled. She feigned confusion, “lan and I are married, isn’t it natural for us to share a room? And dad’s right. So many women in Greenfield would kill for a chance to marry lan. Since I got the opportunity, shouldn’t I do everything I can to keep him?” 

Every word of hers was like a stab to Tricia. 

Tricia’s cheeks were flushed with anger, her breathing shaky. 

Maja had already gone to get her food. 

The sight of her carrying two portions made Tricia’s face even more sour. 

But to keep Maja from suspecting anything, she forced a smile. 

“So you and Mr. Raymond are really close” 

Maja just smiled. Her smile seemed to say, it’s all a given.
