She was hoping Leah would keep stirring the pot for Maja, but Leah got busted in just a day. 

When Rita heard Maja claim she snitched about the karaoke bar, she felt a chill run down her spine. 

How on earth did she know about the karaoke bar? 

If there was any fishy business going on at the karaoke bar, only those who had been there would know. 

Rita narrowed her eyes. Maja was a pro at charming men. Could she have picked that up from places like that karaoke bar? 

A smirk crossed her face. 

Today, Carlene showed up at the Raymond Group again. She had made up her mind to mend fences with lan. 

Rita’s eyes lit up when she saw her. 

Every day, a slew of women would come to the Raymond Group to see lan, mostly celebs or influencers. The reception staff had turned away plenty, but now that Carlene was back, she’d surely want to know who had been eyeing lan. 

As soon as she walked in, she heard Rita and a colleague chatting. 

“Did you know Mr. Raymond’s designer has ties to a karaoke bar that was involved in illegal activities? The madam even got jailed.” 

“Really? Penny always seems so aloof.” 

Rita pretended not to see Carlene and murmured, “I actually saw Mr. Raymond coming out of her room…” 

Before she could finish, she seemed to notice that Carlene was there. Startled, she quickly greeted her. 

“Ms. Shepard.” 

Carlene had no memory of Rita. The Raymond Group had several receptionists, and she had just returned from abroad. 

But what was that unfinished sentence about? 

Carlene gave her a smile. 

“Come with me to the rooftop. I brought some coffee beans I roasted myself. There’s a coffee grinder there. Can you grind coffee?” 

Rita was all smiles inside. She had finally caught Carlene’s attention. 

“Sure, follow me.” 

They entered the elevator together.

Carlene held her tongue in the elevator. 

When they reached the rooftop, she went to lan’s office first. He wasn’t there, but his phone was on the desk. 

His phone rang. It was Selena. 

Without hesitation, Carlene picked up. 

“lan.” 

Selena was going to ask about his allergy symptoms but was greeted by Carlene’s voice. 

“Ms. Casson, this is Carlene.” 

Selena paused. Why would Carlene have lan’s phone? 

He was very private. He must really trust Carlene. 

A smile spread across Selena’s face. 

“Carlene, I heard lan went to the vet with you?” 

“Yes, my cat wasn’t feeling well.” 

“lan’s allergic to animal fur, especially dog fur. He had a high fever last night and broke out in rashes,” 

Surprise flickered in Carlene’s eyes. She wasn’t aware of this and immediately apologized, 

“I’m sorry, I forgot about that. I’ll remind him to take his medicine later.” 

“Okay. You’ve been back for a while, but we haven’t had a meal together. Come to Rosewood Manor with lan tonight. You can also 

meet his wife. She didn’t come home last night and I have no idea where she went. Ah, Carlene, you’re the best fit for lan.“” Expectation filled Carlene’s eyes. 

Selena invited her to Rosewood Manor and expressed her dissatisfaction with lan’s wife. Clearly, she wanted Carlene to put some pressure on her.
