Chapter 415 

Maja didn’t refuse to kiss lan, simply because they’d been up close and personal a few times already. If she started playing coy now, it’d seem too fake. She made a promise to him, and only after it was over would she have the right to say no to lan. 

Maybe because she’d heard so much from Carol Miller that she didn’t feel like she was short–changed kissing the almost perfect lan, as long as he didn’t go wild in bed. 

lan’s face was the sort that made she think like that, especially when she opened her eyes during a kiss and saw his face, it was like a weird dreamy feeling. 

As if she was kissing a god. 

The thrill and excitement were beyond words. 

As an artist, Maja had been tempted to paint him many times. Every part of him was so beautiful. 

She sat in Nathan’s car, massaging her eyebrows. 

Nathan’s phone went off, and his tone immediately changed to one of urgency. He made a sharp turn with the car. 

“Stay still, I’m taking you to the hospital!” 

Nathan ran a red light in his panic, seemingly forgetting about Maja in the car–and–Maja didn’t stop him. 

It wasn’t until the car stopped in front of his house that Nathan seemed to remember her. 

“I’m sorry, Penny, my sister’s in trouble.“. 

He rushed those words out and went into the house. 

Maja got out of the car and hesitated before entering the cramped space. 

Soon, she saw Nathan carrying a little girl covered in blood. The girl’s leg was already withered, needing a wheelchair or crutches. 

Blood was continuously pouring from her head, staining her clothes red. 

Nathan seemed overwhelmed with shock, and Maja quickly took the driver’s seat. 

“You’re not fit to drive right now, let me do it.” 

“Thank you, thank you!” 

Nathan’s voice was choked with tears as he held the little girl tight. 

Maja took a deep breath, stepped on the gas, and they were at the hospital in less than twenty minutes. The car was filled with the stench of blood. 

The hospital immediately arranged for an emergency operation. 

It wasn’t until Maja and Nathan were waiting outside that she had time to think about the expensive pen she saw near the girl’s backpack when they entered Nathan’s house. She remembered it because Carol had given her the same kind of pen, saying it was bought abroad, with a white–gold nib and a diamond–studded cap, worth about 15,000 dollars. 

There were only twenty such pens in the world, Carol gave one to her, and the others should have been given tó Felix Brown. 

When Maja received the gift, she laughed and said, “The extravagance of the rich is unimaginable.” 

But now, the pen given to Felix was casually placed next to a little girl’s backpack, just as casual as Carol’s love. 

Maja furrowed her brows in suspicion, but she wasn’t sure if she was seeing things wrong. 

“Penny, you’ve been a big help tonight, thank you. You can go home now.” 

Nathan seemed to have recovered his composure, expressing his sincere gratitude to her. 

There was no reason for Maja to stay any longer, so she left. 

When she returned to RosenGarden, she sent Carol a text. 

[Is everything okay between you and Felix?] 

She came out of the shower, but Carol hadn’t replied yet. 

Maja started to worry, suspecting that something might have happened between them. 

But soon, Carol replied. 

Instead of a text message, she sent a voice message, sounding a bit hoarse. 

“Maja, Felix and I are great, we just made love.” 

Maja’s mouth twitched, and she threw her phone aside. 

Maybe she was just seeing things. 

On the other side, Carol pushed back her damp hair. Felix came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. 

The small apartment was rented by Felix. It was less than 50 square meters but was kept clean. 

“Carol.” 

He called out to her, then started to blow dry her hair. 

Carol had been spoiled since she was a kid, she’d never lived in such a cramped place, but because she liked Felix, she was willing to put up with it. Felix was drying her hair, looking at the barely visible marks on her neck, and sighed. 

“Felix, what’s wrong? You’ve been preoccupied lately.” 

Felix glanced at her, a complicated look in his eyes. 

Carol didn’t see his emotional change because she had her back to him. 

“My cousin has a tumor in her head, she’s been in the hospital, and the doctors say the operation is very risky. I want to find a specialist, but the operation costs 200,000 dollars, and I can’t find a specialist. My cousin and I are close, this is really bothering me.” 

He twirled Carol’s hair in his fingers, took a sniff, and said casually, 

“Carol, you smell good.” 

Carol laughed lightly. Finding a specialist was not a big deal for her.
