lan strolled into the BlueSky Bar, the titanium white light above him illuminating the room. Suddenly, it hit him–he just had a car race with Samuel. 

He furrowed his brows as Samuel walked in, busy on a call with Maja.. 

“Maja, I’ve sent you the address; come over ASAP!” 

Samuel had been a massive help to Maja with the Pennyfeather Group matter. She promised to paint two pictures for him, and he got to choose the location. 

Maja was immensely grateful. Without Samuel’s help, the Pennyfeather Group might’ve fallen into the hands of Carlene. 

So when he called, she set off immediately with her painting tools. 

Samuel hung up and noticed lan still rooted to the spot. He quirked an eyebrow and said, “Mr. Raymond, you’re not crashing the same party I’m attending tonight, are you?” 

This could happen at these inner–circle parties. 

But lan was a special case. Nobody dared toast him first; he always sat by Tyler, and everyone else could only chat with their own party. 

lan had left Greenfield years ago, and other than Tyler and Fitch Haskins, he had no close friends. 

Samuel chuckled and gestured for him to go ahead. 

Ian found Samuel’s smile highly irritating; he wanted to punch him. 

Thinking about the possibility of Samuel having had something with Penny, lan struggled to suppress his anger. 

But lan didn’t blow up. 

Under the lights, he remained calm, but his eyes held a hint of sharpness, making Samuel a bit nervous. 

Samuel had just lost the race and purposely invited Maja over to make lan uncomfortable. 

They both walked into the private room one after another. 

Many people were already waiting inside. Tyler saw lan and handed him a drink. 

“Why the long face?” 

lan shook his head but downed the whole glass of wine in one gulp. 

This kind of expensive wine was usually meant to be savored.

Samuel was busy greeting everyone around him when someone teased, “No women by your side recently. Thinking about turning over a new leaf?” Everyone in this circle knew Samuel was a playboy. His girlfriends changed almost monthly, and they were all beauties–models, stars, and influencers. But for the past month, there had been no women around Samuel, which surprised everyone. 

Samuel laughed it off: “I’ve got my eye on someone; I’m still in the chasing phase.” 

Everyone laughed, saying, “Stop kidding; when you chase women, it never takes more than a week.” 

Samuel was generous, which was his typical way of wooing women. 

“You guys wouldn’t understand; some women can’t be bought.” 

These playboys didn’t take relationships seriously. To put it bluntly, they had been playing in the field of fame and fortune for years, and the women they met were always the ones who took the initiative. They had never met the kind of women Samuel mentioned–the ones ‘money can’t buy‘. 

“Your performance in bed should be satisfactory, right?” 

Samuel smiled without answering, keenly noticing lan’s gaze.

lan gripped his wine glass so hard that it was about to shatter.
