When Carol set her eyes on lan, they just about popped out of her head. Then, spotting Carlene next to him, her smile dropped a notch. 

Carlene was no stranger to Carol, after all, the Millers, running a diamond business, were legit blue blood. 

“Ms. Miller” 

Carlene greeted her politely. Carol played deaf and turned her attention to lan 

lan, however, didn’t spare Carol a glance and walked past her. 

A sense of relief washed over Carlene. She nodded at Carol, then hurried to catch up with lan 

Carol snapped a picture of their retreating figures. The flash was still on, and at the moment she pressed the shutter, the whole space seemed to light up.

Carol’s heart pounded. She straightened her neck and said, “No way, I’m sending this to Maja, your wife” 

At the mention of his wife’s name, lan’s brow furrowed, and he finally looked Carol in the eye. 

“Do you know Maja?” 

“Of course, we’re good friends.”

Carol’s face stiffened. “What do you mean?” 

Carlene chimed in, “What lan means is that being friends with someone like her is beneath you” 

Carol was instantly pissed off. 

These two were thick as thieves!

It was ten o’clock at night. Maja was already asleep, but she picked up the call in a daze 

“Carol.” 

“Maja, oh my god, how can you sleep? That witch, Carlene, is pregnant with lan’s baby They’re at the hospital getting a check–up!” 

Maja jolted awake, her sleepiness instantly gone. She was wide awake now. 

Carol was still ranting on the other end. 

“That jerk, he’s only good–looking. I can’t believe I had such poor judgment. He’s ditching a beautiful woman like you and getting that hypocritical woman pregnant!” Maja suddenly found it hard to breathe. Her body started to ache. 

It was not lan she cared about, but the baby that was forcefully aborted. 

Maja felt like her heart was on fire. Her hand clutched the bedsheet tightly. 

What humiliated her the most was that she never really felt the presence of that baby. 

She had looked up information about painless abortions. Medical technology these days was indeed advanced. An operation could be completed in just ten minutes, and the patient could leave the hospital right after 

It was so fast that she didn’t even realize the existence of her baby. 

Except for that pregnancy test stick showing two lines. 

Maja suddenly felt like throwing up. The anger and nausea mixed together, making her unable to catch her breath. 

She rushed to the sink and started retching, 

Heaning Moja’s vomiting on the phone, Carol became alert. “Are you sick? I’m sorry: I shouldn’t have told you this news! 

Maja turned on the faucet and rinsed her mouth with clean water, tears in her eyes. 

“I’m fine, just a stomach upset” 

Carol sounded worried. Tll come see you. I’m at the hospital right now, I can bring some stomach medicine.” 

Maja looked at herself in the mirror–a miserable sight. 

She had lost a lot of weight, her eyes were helpless. Her eyes were a little red from just throwing up. 

“Carol, I’m okay. I’m at Rosewood Manor, Ms. Maria will take care of me. I just feel nauseous.” 

As she said that, Maja paused and said, “I’m just nauseous.” 

Carol was heartbroken. She didn’t understand why fate was always so unfair to Maja.

“Maja, I only introduce you to reliable people. Shawn is very disciplined, handsome, and has an eight pack. If he can make you happy, I’ll have the Miller family fully support him.
