Her eyes were red again. She closed them, stared at nothing for half an hour, and then carefully tucked the letter away. She managed to sleep for a few hours. After breakfast, she grabbed what she needed and headed to the city hall to wait. 

In the meantime, Holden called again, telling her to wait for lan. 

“Okay, Grandpa Holden, I’ll wait here for Mr. Raymond.” 

lan also got a call from Holden. His head was pounding from too much drinking the night before. 

He woke up at six in the morning, thinking Maja would be in the living room, but she was nowhere in sight. 

Did she leave in the middle of the night to avoid him? 

At the thought of this, his expression turned even colder. 

When he arrived at the Raymond Corporation, his face was as sour as a lemon. 

It was when he finished processing the morning’s paperwork that he received a call from Holden, telling him to pick up the divorce papers. 

“Ian, I’m planning to give Maja fifty million. We can’t be unfair to her. You’ve been fooling around with other women during your marriage. You should compensate her with two extra villas.” 

lan’s eyebrows knitted together. So, that woman could get so much money without lifting a finger? 

Did she deserve it? 

The Raymond Corporation had helped the Penny feather family through two financing rounds, throwing in a huge sum of money. Could she sell herself for that price? His dislike for that woman was growing. 

“Grandpa, I won’t let her take anything.” 

Now that Holden had accepted that he and Maja were divorcing, he no longer bothered to hide his disdain for his wife. 

Holden was silent for a few seconds, and then he exploded. 

“You bastard! You are animal! She’s been with you for three years!” 

“We’ve never been intimate.” 

Holden stiffened, shaking with anger! 

“Maja said you two were intimate. Have you forgotten? Or are you trying to deny it?” 

lan pictured the woman in his mind. 

Of course, she would say that, just hoping that Holden would stop their divorce! 

To keep her status for life, didn’t she consider whether she was worthy? 

–“Do you think would be interested in her? Only if all the women in the world disappeared!” 

“You!” 

Holden banged the desk hard, coughing with anger. 

lan probably realized he was a bit too harsh, but he was constantly testing Holden’s limits. 

Since Holden had now agreed to the divorce, he wouldn’t faint again because of his indifference towards Maja. 

He was about to say something comforting when he heard Holden hang up the phone. 

Holden flung the phone away in anger, cursing three times. 

“Bastard!” 

“Scum!” 

“My luck is rotten, having such an irresponsible descendant!” 

The butler tried calming him down, “Holden, forget it. You know lan’s temperament.” 

Rubbing his forehead, Holden sighed, “I just feel sorry for Maja.” 

When Maja received the second call from Holden, it was ten o’clock. 

“Maja, just wait a little longer. I bring lan, and we must have a farewell meal together.” 

Maja drove herself and parked under a big tree in front of the city hall. 

“Grandpa Holden, don’t be angry. I can wait.” 

After hanging up Holden took a deep breath and headed for the Raymond Corporation. 

But as soon as he stepped out of the Raymond family’s mansion, he fainted due to over–excitement. 

His health was already not the best, and he was aggravated by Edith several times recently. Selena also caused some trouble, and now lan and Maja were divorcing. He felt really upset. 

His fainting caused chaos in the Raymond family. 

lan, still in a meeting, received news that Holden was rushed to the emergency room. He instinctively thought his harsh words had triggered a heart attack and rushed to the hospital. 

Meanwhile, Maja was still waiting at the city hall. After Holden’s call, she instinctively thought there would be a resolution today. 

She was also ready to face lan. 

But when it was two o’clock in the afternoon, four hours later, there were no more calls from Holden or any news from lan. 

Since she wasn’t welcomed in the Raymond family, everyone was waiting by the hallway, and no one thought to inform her. 

Maja thought for a moment and then texted lan from her personal number. 

“Mr. Raymond, when will you be at the city hall?”
