Not long after, Fitch and a few others showed up, and as they walked in, they said, “Phelps has got a few surgeries tonight. He might not show up till late. Just start drinking.” 

It was still noon, and the specially hired chef was busy in the kitchen, preparing for the upcoming feast in the afternoon. 

lan was seated in the middle. Usually, he was a corner seater at parties, trying to avoid too much chitchat. 

Now, he was seated centre–stage, his eyes darting towards the entrance every now and then. 

Tyler was bustling around, decorating the place. Balloons were being hung, but the ‘Happy Birthday‘ banner was yet to be put up. 

Just then, the doorbell rang. 

The servant opened the door to Maja. 

Seeing a few people inside and Tyler still holding balloons, Maja was slightly surprised but didn’t ask questions. Instead, she walked straight to lan. 

Ian was as cool as a cucumber. The coffee table was littered with various drinks, and he casually picked up one, asking, “Why so early?” 

“Mr. Raymond, Maja called out softly, “I came hoping you could do me a favour.” 

lan looked at her but didn’t see a gift in her hands. 

He frowned, “What favour?” 

Maja took a seat next to him, talking about Funfly and mentioning Shawn. 

His face immediately darkened. 

“So, you came to me because of Shawn?” 

Maja knew he was hot–tempered. She had no right to ask him for a favour, but maybe he would agree. 

She held on to that hope. 

“Mr. Raymond, you know Funfly’s reputation. Shawn is definitely in danger, so I…” 

“Penny, do you know what day it is today?” 

Maja froze. Looking around, she could tell the ambience was festive. 

It was even a little tacky, and she instantly guessed. 

“Someone’s proposing?” 

lan chuckled at that. 

Fitch and Tyler, who were closest to them, also turned to look at Maja. 

lan laughed, ignoring the inner hurt, and put down his drink. 

“Who do you think you are? Do you think I’m going to save him for you? Who do you think I am?!” 

His voice escalated on the last sentence. 

Seeing things going south, Tyler quickly slid off the ladder and tried to calm lan down. 

“lan, let it go.”

Maja was startled by his sudden outburst and took a step back. 

Seeing her fright, lan felt even more frustrated. 

After a minute of silence, he picked up his phone and called Funfly. 

“Let Shawn go.” 

Hearing lan’s call, Funfly jumped to his feet in fright. 

“Mr. Raymond.” 

But lan had already hung up, and kicked over the coffee table next to him, drinks splattered everywhere, making a mess. 

Maja said nothing while lan grabbed her wrist tightly, instructing Tyler, “You guys carry on.” 

Tyler wanted to intervene, but Fitch shook his head at him. 

Fitch and lan had gone through something the night before. He knew lan was not in a good mood, and this woman showing up asking him to save Shawn was just and asking for trouble. 

Tyler smiled apologetically at everyone, “Sorry about this. I’ll have the servants clean up, and we’ll have dinner soon.” 

Maja was dragged upstairs by lan. Seeing the bedroom door locked from inside, she was on high alert. 

But in the next second, lan had picked her up and tossed her on the bed. 

He was on top of her in a flash, biting her lips. 

“Do you really think I’m just another guy you can boss around?” 

Maja felt the sting from his bites. She tried to move back, but there was a wall behind her. 

lan pulled her back, “You didn’t remember a single thing I told you!”
