lan’s contract signing date with the Shepard family is coming up soon. 

The whole Shepard clan is on pins and needles, waiting for lan’s decision. 

Carlene is especially on edge because lan returned the birthday gift she gave him. It looks like this time, lan is dead set on keeping his distance from her. Carlene felt like she was choking on fire when she realized this. 

But it’s all good. As long as the Raymond Corporation invests in the EverBest Group, they can pull through the rough patch. 

Meanwhile, lan’s also playing the waiting game, waiting for a message from Maja. 

An hour later, Maja sends over a picture. It’s a photo of two divorce certificates. 

lan’s face broke into a smile the moment he saw the photo. 

He immediately dialled Maja’s number. 

“Did you really get a divorce?” 

At that moment, Maja was tidying up at Rosewood Manor. She pretended a man was in the house, so she kept some men’s items around. Now she didn’t need them anymore, so she was putting them away. 

“Um, Mr. Raymond hasn’t signed the contract with EverBest Group yet, right?” 

lan laughed at her words while Maja chucked a few men’s shirts and slippers into the trash. 

She also told Nathan that they weren’t employer and employee anymore the previous night. 

Nathan felt guilty because he hadn’t been helping Maja much lately but was still taking his salary. So, he was cool with the decision. 

lan asked her, “Where are you?” 

“RosenGarden.” 

After hanging up the phone, Maja dumped the stuff into the trash bin on the first floor. 

When she got back to her door, she found two expensive pairs of shoes outside the box. 

Who bought these? 

Carol? 

The low–key style was so Carol, very much like the pair of shoes he’d given her before. 

She was still tidying up when lan showed up. 

Maja wasn’t surprised when she opened the door and saw him. 

“Mr. Raymond, please come in.” 

lan took a look around the room and then opened the shoe cabinet. 

Inside were only a few pairs of women’s shoes and a couple of pairs that he had picked out himself. Not a single pair of men’s shoes. 

That made him even happier. “I thought you were reluctant to get a divorce and didn’t expect you to be so decisive.” 

Maja stiffened for a moment and then slowly relaxed. 

“There’s nothing to hang onto. He doesn’t like me.” 

lan casually picked up a pair of her shoes, and she had specifically prepared a pair in his size. 

Maja was pouring water when he hugged her from behind, causing her to drop the cup nearly. 

“He surely doesn’t like you. Cheated and doesn’t even have the ability.” 

Maja didn’t respond, and she just quietly flicked the switch on the kettle. 

lan tried to kiss her, but she dodged him. 

She poured two cups of water and placed them on the coffee table. 

lan was in a great mood and didn’t force her, and he just sat down on the sofa. 

Perhaps because he knew there was no man of the house in this room, he felt completely at ease sitting there. 

“Penny, you want me to give up a 300 million investment in the EverBest Group. You don’t think that just getting a divorce is enough, right?” 

Maja knew in her heart that his demands definitely wouldn’t stop there. 

That was way too much for her. 

“Mr. Raymond.” 

She looked up at him and finally said the words she wanted to say. 

“I don’t want to trade with you like that anymore. You might think I’m ungrateful or pretending to be noble, but I really don’t want to.” 

lan furrowed his brows, unable to understand her thoughts. 

Or did she not enjoy sleeping with him? 

But didn’t she blush and get excited every time?
