lan was up on his feet, ready to hit the road. 

But his sight was blurry, his eyes heavily fixated on the dishes on the table. 

These were birthday meals prepared by his Mom, Selena, and his Granny, Edith, who sneakily drugged him. 

A sharp pain hit lan’s heart, and he rubbed his forehead. 

“I don’t love Carlene; I don’t want to marry her. Eric may still be alive, so,” 

His words were cut off by Edith. 

“Don’t lie to me anymore, Holden Raymond has already told me that Eric can’t possibly be alive, even though I wish he were. lan, if you’re feeling bad, let Carlene help you.” 

Feeling dizzy, lan saw Carlene approaching him through his blurred vision. 

“Back off!” 

He grabbed her wrist and pushed her away forcefully. 

Carlene fell onto the floor, almost bursting into tears.. 

Edith was furious, grabbing lan’s clothes. 

“What the hell are you doing, are you not satisfied with all my arrangements? Do you even consider me as family anymore?” 

lan held back his remaining sanity, not wanting to push her over. After all, Edith was old and wouldn’t be able to handle it. 

“I consider you as family, but what about you? Am I just a substitute for Eric? I’m a person with feelings, don’t you guys see that?!” After saying that, lan couldn’t be bothered to say more, his aura growing colder. 

“I won’t be coming back.”

“How was I supposed to know he’d be this stubborn! He’s been disobedient since he was a kid, no one likes his personality!” 

Selena had lan sent to the hospital immediately. 

And word of what Edith did reached Holden’s ears. 

Furious, Holden had Edith tied up and forcefully sent out of Greenfield. 

“I don’t ever want to see her again!” 

Edith caused a ruckus wanting to see Holden, but he refused even at the risk of his own life, even warning Selena. 

“If anything happens to lan, you’re leaving with Edith!” 

Selena was left speechless. 

This time, when Steve Raymond came back, the first thing he did at the hospital was slap Selena. 

“Wicked woman!” 

Selena saw stars as her cheek swelled up. 

But she didn’t dare to utter a word in front of Steye as she was terrified. 

The other members of the Raymond family were in turmoil, hoping lan wouldn’t wake up. 

With lan out of the picture, the position of CEO at the Raymond Corporation would be up for grabs. 

Holden sat in the corridor, silent, clutching his cane. 

He had taken several heart pills, but his hands were still trembling. 

After a while, he said, “If anything happens to lan, everyone involved with this incident will pay the price!” 

Selena, who had been slapped, shrank back. As for Carlene, she had been sent home.
