Next came Feynman’s voice. 

“Got in touch already, and it was Professor Smith who picked up the call. He said Erlinda’s grades are top–notch, always the top of her class. Professor Smith looks out for her, how could she possibly go astray? It was no easy feat for our family to have a student at Skyrim Film Academy. Every time I work overtime, I’m over the moon. Even though work has been stressful and a bit tiring recently, my colleagues can’t help but envy when they hear Erlinda is studying at the Skyrim Film Academy. When she graduates, she’s sure to rake in the big bucks.” 

Upon hearing this, Erlinda felt a heavy burden weighing her down. Leaning against the wall, she slowly squatted down, wanting to cry. 

Just then, Jean opened the door and appeared a tad displeased upon seeing Erlinda. 

“What were you doing outside? Your dad has already retumed. Why are you still procrastinating? We’ll talk about it later. Explain how you intend to spend that much money.” 

Erlinda silently walked inside, the hallway outside immersed in endless darkness. With the closing of the door, the light seeping out from the door gap also gradually disappeared. 

It felt like she was locked in this lit box, unable to find a way out. 

Maja woke up early, casually ate some breakfast, and grabbed her bag to leave. 

As soon as she sat down at the office, Jeff gave her a call. 

“Ms. Penny, Mr. Raymond wants you back.” 

Maja had just sent out the documents she had sorted out last night. Hearing this, she couldn’t help but get pissed. 

“Is he out of his freaking mind?! Jeff, seriously, send him to a mental institution to get checked out. He’s probably knocked his head and gone Toopy!!” 

Jeff was so startled by her outburst that his hand trembled. He quietly looked up at the man in front of him. 

The phone was on speaker, Maja’s words came out crystal clear, creating an echo in the office due to the clarity of her voice. 

Jeff hurriedly tried to signal Maja. 

“Ms. Penny, it’s actually a good thing for you to come back, Mr. Raymond really trusts you.” 

What he was thinking was please stop talking. 

But through the phone screen, Maja clearly couldn’t hear Jeff’s inner thoughts, she only felt her anger growing stronger. 

“I wish he’d trust someone else! I quit this job! I’d have to be nuts to be his secretary. Jeff, I advise you to quit too, sticking with him is a one–way ticket to an early grave! He’s temperamental, sarcastic, full of himself, a cheapskate, and delusional, driven by desire, his mind is filled with nothing but that one thing, I’m not coming back.” 

With every word Maja uttered, Jeff shrank further, the temperature in the office steadily dropping. 

“Penny.” lan took the phone. 

Maja’s mind went blank, she instinctively glanced at her own phone screen, indeed it was Jeff’s number. 

She didn’t dare to even breathe for a moment. 

lan leaned back in his chair, the other hand holding a pen. 

“Jeff and I have had a detailed discussion, our agreement lasts for two months, and there’s still one and a half months left. I’ve paid in advance, do you understand the consequences of breaching the contract? I can sue you into bankruptcy.” 

He glanced at his watch. 

“It’s nine o’clock now, if you don’t appear in my office before ten, I’ll let the Raymond Corporation’s PR department deal with you.” 

The Raymond Corporation’s PR department had never lost a single lawsuit. They had a reputation for being “unbeatable“. Once the PR department got involved, the defendant could face severe consequences including financial loss and even jail time. 

After saying this, lan hung up. 

Jeff stood by, not daring to speak. 

Mr. Raymond had lost his memory and had no manners towards him either. 

“When Penny arrives, you guard the door properly and don’t let anyone else in.” 

Jeff immediately left, his forehead covered in sweat. 

In all his years working with Mr. Raymond, he had never seen someone criticize Mr. Raymond so directly.
