Fitch paused what he was doing, noticing lan still couldn’t get Penny out of his head. “Penny almost ruined Mia’s face. If I don’t deal with Penny, Sharon will.” 

“Stay out of it, lan said calmly. “If you hurt Penny, you hurt me.” 

Fitch’s face changed at hearing this. 

How come lan, even with amnesia, cared about Penny more than before? 

“lan, you serious?” 

“Fitch, I’m dead serious. At least for now, you can’t touch her.” 

lan swallowed a painkiller, his gaze cold as ice. 

Fitch hung up and called Sharon to tell her he wouldn’t interfere. 

Sharon was livid. On the other end of the phone, Mia could still be heard crying. 

Mia was hiding under the covers, shaking all over. Any slight touch would make her scream. 

“Mia, chill,” 

Mia shook even harder. 

“Don’t kill me! Don’t ruin my face!” 

Seeing Mia like this broke Sharon’s heart. She knew Fitch’s reluctance to get involved was because of lan. 

Sharon immediately called Powell Farley to tell him what had happened that night. 

Powell, seeing Evelyn crying her eyes out as soon as she got home, felt a headache coming on. 

“I’ll have a word with that designer.” 

Powell, a ruthless business man, felt bitter seeing Evelyn with a swollen forehead, crying a river. 

Powell called Maja to arrange a meeting. 

At nine, Maja met Powell at a coffee shop. 

Maja hadn’t gone home that night, heading straight to the coffee shop. 

She saw Powell all dressed up. 

Powell was surprised to see how stunning Penny was, but he quickly regained his composure, his face grave. 

“Miss Penny, did you hit Evelyn?” 

“Mr. Powell, I was attacked by a group of people. I had to defend myself.” 

“I’ve never laid a finger on Evelyn.” 

“If I hadn’t fought back, I would’ve been beaten up. I thought you were here to discuss business.” 

Powell sized Penny up. She was neither humble nor arrogant as if she didn’t care about this at all. 

Powell felt a bit frustrated. 

“Miss Penny, I’m a reasonable man. As long as you apologize to my daughter Evelyn and she’s satisfied, that thing you mentioned, I’ll agree to.” 

Powell meant if Evelyn weren’t satisfied with the apology, Maja would be in trouble. 

Maja immediately stood up and scoffed, “First of all, just because I want to rent a property from Sunshine Realty doesn’t mean I’m submitting to them. You haven’t given me a discount. If Sunshine Realty doesn’t rent to me, I can find other developers. So your threat won’t work on me. I have other things to do. Seems like we can’t reach an agreement.” 

Powell glanced outside, spotting Zoey in the driver’s seat. 

“Zoey?” Powell raised an eyebrow. 

Then, Powell chuckled, “You know, I happen to know Zoey. Her boyfriend’s name is Murray, right?” 

Actually, Maja didn’t know what Zoey’s boyfriend’s name was. 

“My daughter Evelyn is after Murray.” 

Maja’s pupils constricted, rage instantly flooding her heart. 

“Mr. Powell, you know Murray has a girlfriend, but you’re still letting Evelyn pursue him?” 

“What’s the problem? He’s not married, is he? And even if Evelyn ends up with him, she might not actually marry Murray. It could just be a fleeting passion, and then she’ll be after someone else. Evelyn’s like that, fickle, so I never stop her from going after anyone, as long as she’s happy.”

Powell sipped his coffee, chuckling, “Evelyn is actively pursuing Murray. With Evelyn’s looks and background, it’s just a matter of time before Murray fails for her. Men can be more practical than women. So, Miss Penny, think about whether you want to apologize to Evelyn. The company Murray works for happens to be a subsidiary of Sunshine Realty. He was promoted to manager last month, and I heard he’s just got engaged to Zoey. If Evelyn gets him at this point, it would be a big blow to your assistant Zoey, wouldn’t it?” 

This was a blatant threat. 

If Maja didn’t apologize, Powell would manipulate Murray into leaving Zoey. 

Maja was speechless. 

Powell had the upper hand. He stood up gracefully, “Penny, sometimes you learn a lot of lessons in this world. When you’ve been through more, you’ll understand that some people are just born different.” 

“Evelyn has a grand background and loving parents. She doesn’t have to work hard like you. Her monthly allowance is probably more than you’ll ever make in your life. You are not qualified to hit her face.” 

With that, Powell left. He had agreed to meet Maja out of courtesy. 

Maja stood there dumbfounded for a while before she finally left. 

Zoey saw that Maja looked off and immediately asked, “Ms. Pennyfeather, what happened?”
