But as he was just about to step out of the bar, he ran into Fitch. 

Fitch, still holding a cigarette, stopped him. “Tyler told me you’re back on your feet. I’ve got some stuff about Eric and I want to discuss with you.” 

News about Eric was always a top priority, no matter when. 

lan tossed his car keys to Fitch as he walked towards his car, “We can talk and walk.” 

Since he had been drinking, he couldn’t drive. That task fell onto Fitch. 

lan had a bit too much to drink that night, so he closed his eyes as soon as he got in the car. 

Fitch, looking straight ahead, spoke in a casual tone. “All the drafts have been scanned. Nothing was found except for that one poem.” 

“My bro once told my dad about a girl he liked. But my dad was a bit smashed that day, so he never remembered her name.” 

While waiting for a red light, Fitch continued, “The source of the notebook provided by Carlene can’t be traced anymore. It seems like someone intentionally removed it. But the fingerprints on it are Eric’s. I’ve been having people search in Greenfield, but all we’re finding is more people sneaking in. Your dad told you, right? I’m not sure what these people are after” 

When lan opened his eyes, he saw Fitch had pulled up to a mansion. But this wasn’t Greenfield Gardens. 

“lan, I recently caught someone alive. But I didn’t tell you because of your injury.” 

lan frowned and immediately shot Maja a text. 

[Might be a bit late.] 

Maja didn’t enter Greenfield Gardens either. After all, it was past 1 a.m., the servants were all asleep, and the Gardens were pitch black, except for a single light in the courtyard. 

She waited outside, shivering in the night chill. 

lan followed Fitch into the mansion and saw a man who had been strung up. 

The man was covered in injuries, his upper body stripped of clothing. There was a small tattoo on the back of his neck, about the size of a coin. It looked like a jellyfish and was intricately designed. 

Fitch had caught dead people before, but he had never found a tattoo on any of them. 

“lan, have you ever seen this tattoo before? The group we encountered before rarely had this kind of tattoo. So I’m thinking, maybe the ones who snuck in this time are core members?” 

lan thought for a moment. He knew this type of jellyfish. It was the most venomous creature discovered so far. 

This jellyfish only existed overseas, and once it stung a person, they had less than four minutes to live. There’s no known medical treatment, so it’s known as the “king of poison.” 

Not many people would get this tattooed on themselves. 

lan lifted the man’s chin with the gun in his hand. 

He asked Fitch, “He didn’t reveal any other info?” 

“No matter how we press him, his face remains emotionless. It’s as if he can’t feel anything.” 

This was a problem. Either they put him in a life–threatening situation, or they let him go. 

“Did you show him my brother’s picture?” 

“We did. But there was no emotion in his eyes.” 

Could it be he wasn’t here for Eric? 

The number of people that snuck in this time was large. Could there be several forces at play? 

lan glanced at the time. “We’ll discuss it later. I need to get back now,” 

With that, he stepped out of the room. 

Meanwhile, Maja, who had been waiting at Greenfield Gardens, was so cold she had to go back to her car. 

She turned on the car’s heater and drove back to Rosewood Manor, thinking it wasn’t worth it to freeze here in the middle of the night. 

But halfway there, she suddenly hit someone. 

She rushed to brake and got out of the car, pale–faced. 

The strange thing was, she was certain she had hit someone, but now there was nothing under the car. 

She felt a chill behind her neck. It was as if she had encountered a ghost in the middle of the night. 

She quickly got back in the car and was about to drive off when she felt a sharp dagger pressed against her neck. 

A man slowly approached and looked at her. 

Maja tried to see his face in the rearview mirror, but a hand pushed her head down. 

“Stay still. If you don’t move, you won’t get hurt.” 

Maja’s hands were cuffed behind her back, and she was shoved onto the passenger seat. 

Just as the man was about to drive off, a bright light suddenly shone from behind. 

It was lan’s car. 

lan also recognized Maja’s car. 

But the next second, the man slammed on the gas pedal. 

lan’s eyes darkened. He ordered his men to block the car at several intersections, 

But the driver was fearless. He crashed into anything and everything, even if there were obstacles ahead. 

lan couldn’t act rashly. If anything happened, Maja would be in danger. 

All he could do was follow closely in his car, making sure he didn’t lose them. 

Maja’s hands were cuffed behind her back, totally helpless.
