On the alley, he saw something by the road sparkling, shining so brightly. 

He walked over, squatted down, and picked up the object. It was a diamond–studded hairpin, clearly a woman’s accessory. It looked pretty pricey. 

The maids of the Raymond family wouldn’t wear stuff like this. Could it be left by a lady from the banquet? 

He stood up, having no recollection of the hairpin, but didn’t toss it away either. 

That scene was witnessed by Selena, who recognized it as Maja’s hairpin.

lan remained silent, just staring at the hairpin. 

Just as Selena reached out to take it, he slowly asked, “Has Penny been here?“?

He put the hairpin into the drawer, hearing Jeff say, “I always felt that Penny is not a frivolous woman, her eyes are clear.” 

Even very firm. Otherwise, she would have made demands during the time she was tangled with lan. 

But all the gifts were given out proactively by lan. Penny never asked for anything.

The doctor said she was overly scared.

Beck sat by the bed, handing her a bowl of porridge, encouraging her to eat, 

“Have a little to eat.” 

Maja took the porridge, lowered her head, and quietly ate. 

Seeing her like that, Beck inexplicably felt a pang in his heart.
