The brawl had already kicked off in the ring, and the tension was through the roof, both inside and out. When the last wolf was put down, everyone threw their hands up in the air and cheered. 

The air was thick with adoration, cheers, sweat, smoke, and the smell of booze. 

All these smells mixed together, and in the end, it was all drowned out by the cheers. 

“Barlow! Barlow!” 

“Barlow! Barlow!” 

“Barlow!” 

lan didn’t take off his mask as he left the ring, ripping off the blood–soaked cloth from his fists. 

Sweat was rolling down his forehead, tracing the contours of his muscular body. 

His upper body was bare, sweat pouring down like a waterfall. 

Letting off steam like this, he felt a lot better. 

He took a bottle of water from a bystander and returned to his room. 

But the moment he opened the door, he saw a woman being held up against the wall by a bodyguard, her legs wrapped tightly around his waist. lan’s face turned stormy, and he felt like he needed to scrub his eyes clean. 

The woman noticed him coming in and patted the bodyguard. 

The bodyguard hastened to finish, then knelt down to fix her dress with the utmost care. 

Her legs were weak as she was helped to sit across from lan. 

With a sneer, lan said, “Keep this up, and you’ll end up dying because of men.” 

The woman propped her chin with one hand and sighed. 

“I’m not young anymore, and I just want to enjoy my days, lan, those who pursue love are the real fools.” 

lan stiffened, grabbing his coat from the side. 

He said, “I’m going for a shower.” 

He was drenched in sweat. Even his hair was wet. 

The woman looked out the window at the excited crowd below. They all looked like wild devils now, but outside of this place, they were all elites in their workplaces. 

She said, “lan, there’s no such thing as true love in this world. You can like her body and her looks, but once you want her heart, it’s over. Look at me. I’m so much happier after my divorce, my lovers are all strong and kind to me. Isn’t this better than being in love?” 

lan was already at the door. The bodyguard who had just been with her was now massaging her shoulders, just like she said, treating her well. 

lan; “Nydia, you should just find a good man and marry him.” 

Nydia chuckled at his words, “Love is unreliable, and marriage even more so.” 

lan went straight to the top floor of the building. 

The rooftop was above ground, offering a view of the most famous landmarks around, and there was a swimming pool. 

Once there, he dove into the pool and swam a dozen laps before he felt his boiling energy calming down. 

He wiped the water off his face and stared at the sky. 

After a while, his phone rang. 

He had been gone for two days, and even Jeff didn’t know where he was. 

lan jumped out of the water, grabbed his phone, and answered the call. 

He asked, “What’s up?” 

“Mr. Raymond, should we return Coco to Ms. Penny?” 

Penny? 

lan lowered his head, lying on a chair next to him. 

It was nighttime here. The stars in the sky were twinkling brightly. 

He used to love this place, with its enchanting night view of the whole of North America, as bright as gold. He felt like he was lying on a pile of gold. Even the loneliness was golden. 

He didn’t see anything wrong with it. 

If it wasn’t for Maja. 

“Just take it back.” 

No sooner had he spoken than Jeff said, “It seems like Coco threw up.” 

Jan immediately tensed up. His first thought was that if something happened to Coco, Maja would murder him. 

Nobody expected the Barlow, who was just the center of attention in the ring, was now afraid of getting slapped over a dog 

“What happened to it? It was fine when I left, wasn’t it?” 

“Mr. Raymond, I’m not sure. I’ve called the vet.” 

“Forget the vet. Take it to the hospital now! Don’t let Maja know about this. If Coco loses weight, feed it more meat every day until it regains the weight, then take it back.” 

“Okay, don’t worry.” 

Jeff immediately drove towards the hospital. 

But just as he reached the gate of Greenfield Gardens, he saw Maja. 

Maja had come to pick up Coco. 

It had been two days. Maja had only just been discharged from the hospital. She was still weak, but she wanted to cut off all ties with lan, so she decided to take Coco back first. 

Jeff glanced at the somewhat languid Coco in the car and immediately took another route.
