LILY...
Rushing out for evidence at any hour was a part of my job. I accepted it as a part of my life because once I dreamt of becoming a crime reporter, I knew every day would be a new challenge for me.
When Grandma used to live with me, she used to nag always for my safety and I used to kiss her cheeks and rush out with a smile. Since she was admitted to the hospital, no one did her part for me.
Tonight was the same or it could be, if Leo didn't show concern for me before I left the house. Though I was indifferent at that moment my heart convulsed with a warm feeling I had never tasted for more than a year.
He was a stranger who somewhat forced into my life. A bit annoying but harmless. As a woman, staying with him under the same roof didn't give me insecurity. Though I would never admit this in front of him, I could not deny the fact either. I don't know who he is, where he came from or what happened to him. But Leo is a gentleman. A woman's instinct could never fail when it's a matter of her safety. Plus, he is flawlessly good-looking and smart.
Sigh... Still, he is a headache when it comes to his smartass.
I looked out of the cab window. The club 'Night Delights' came into view and the driver stopped. Paying the fare I got down and walked into the club.
'Night Delight' was one of the huge and crowded clubs in the town. Rich and spoilt would be found here and a five-star heaven for paparazzi. People have been exposed here, but still, 90% never went out and buried under the huge sum of money.
However, it's not my regular spot. As a crime reporter, my presence was mostly in crime spots and police stations.
I walked inside and Thankfully, no dress code. As usual, the club was a blast. Ignoring the crowd and mixed smell of alcohol, smoke and sweat, I walked toward the bar-stand.
The bartender was making drinks for a group of people as I stood aside, looking into the crowd. A while later, "Here is your beer ma'am." The bartender spoke.
Turning to him, I took the glass and smiled. Along with the glass a little note was passed to me. Casually sipping on the glass, I read the note,
'Third seat of the left corner, curly-blonde girl in black short dress.' I looked in the direction and found out the girl. Once again reading the note, 'The deceased's illegitimate daughter. And the man in a black shirt beside her was the investigating officer of the case. They are suspicious_ The rest is yours.' Reading, I crumpled the note, shoving it into my pocket before turning to the bartender.
"Can I have two ice cubes?" I asked and he came.
"Since when?" I asked lowly.
"Fifteen Minutes. Booked the last room upstairs. Attached to a store room from behind, hide there. Don't move your eyes from them. They might know a lot." He muttered blankly, putting in two ice cubes. He did not lose his professionalism. "Better go there with a partner." He advised.
"Hmm... I am fine alone." I muttered, Sipping on my drink slowly, I kept my focus on my birds.
"Suit yourself." He left.
The woman's face was clear in my view. She is around my age. But, the man was back facing me. I couldn't really catch his face.
I am aware of the investigating team already. It's time to see who is this man. It's highly suspicious of them meeting in the club. Once I find out a little loop, it would be a huge breaking news.
