Chapter 0031
Kaia POV
Things were…good.
I was joining Hector in his office for some part of the days, checking my emails and then working on some pack administration for him.
He was entrusting me with pack information…
Okay, it wasn’t top secret information, only paperwork for recent births and deaths, but still…I was being trusted and it felt wonderful.
I would like to think we were becoming friends.
He had asked me to join him for morning training. I had said yes with a hidden excitement, but regretted it when a tap on my door woke me up at 5am. Even more so when the cold morning air chilled me to my
core.
“How often do they train?” I ask, not keeping my eyes off the males and females before me.
The Amber Desert pack had female fighters, but in comparison their numbers were far behind the Dark Phantom pack.
Something else I was starting to really like about this pack.
The men treated the females differently. I was being treated differently.
“I’ve increased to twice a day since our guests haunt my borders.” Hector says, his eyes involuntarily checking our surroundings.
He and Beta Ezra were constantly on alert, taking it in turns when it came to finally rest for a few hours. 1
“That’s good, especially for the females…”
“Is that so?” He looks down at me from his great height with a smirk forming in the corner of his lips.
“Yes, see…that female there. She’s not standing correctly, she’ll last 5 seconds. Is she a trainee?”
“Yes.”
“Ah, it might be worthwhile finding a female to train females as well as a male coach.” 1
“Why would I do that?”
“Women aren’t tiny men Alpha Hector, it takes a woman to know how to train women. How a female’s body works. We have to be more agile in a fight, faster the sleeker. Very few can out beat a male in strength, so we have to use offer tools at our disposal.” I tap my head, indicating at my brain.
“I’ll take it on board.”
He takes a step towards the fight, and for a moment I worry I’ve overstepped, spoken out of place. I’m not one to usually speak my mind, being oppressed for too long, but something about Hector made me want to be free and empowering.

Chapter 0031
One thing he didn’t do was reprimand me for commenting, he welcomed my input.
I panic less but perv more when he starts taking his relaxed hoodie off, leaving him in only sport shorts. My eyes take in his form, the muscles on his back that flex as he partially removes his clothing. I try not to gawp, I try to look disinterested but who am I kidding.
Then he turns, positioning himself into a fighting position, preparing to join the training session.
What is it about alpha bodies? He was no exception.
Beautifully carved, every inch of him pure muscle and I can’t help but picture myself running my tongue over his toned body.
Even the 6 pack looked like it took no effort to maintain.
Is it wrong of me to think sexually of another man when I am married and pregnant? Because that is what I am doing right now and I’ve never welcomed a mate bond as much as I do right now. I just keep picturing him walking towards me, picking me up and carrying me to his house.
Even his current fight was s***y to watch, him against 5 other males. And he doesn’t even break into a
sweat.
I’ll need a shower myself to cool down. Next time I’ll have to remind myself to bring sunglasses…I might look ***d at 5am but at least it’s not obvious where my eyes are focusing.
In my peripheral vision, I see a lone female running down a slope, seemingly distressed as she cradles her arms around her chest.
No one else has noticed her, my heart aching for her when she trips and lands in the mud.
Sobs escaping her as she tries to stand but slips again.
Something is wrong, my wolf becoming alert.
I’m not needed here in training, but she needs someone. I start to close the gap when she screams into the morning air. I can feel her pain from the high pitched scream and my body freezes.
“Riley!”
I can only describe their reaction as a stampede. Vibrations in the soil, the sound of fast movement running past me. (1
A group, including Hector, rush over to the female, a male already picking her up in his arms.
She clings onto him for dear life, as if she were in a stormy sea and he were her life raft. Her sobs
-unbearable to watch and hear.
With the same speed, they move back towards my direction, hastily rushing back to the alpha house.
I swiftly follow the group keen to check on the girl’s welfare. She can’t be any older than 18.
“Riley, place Rosa on the sofa!” Hector orders at the male who judging by their similarities, is the girl’s older brother.
Rosa is gently placed on the sofa in the front room of the alpha house.

Chapter 0031
“Rosa… Rosa, what happened?” Hector crouches down, approaching the girl in a non threatening manner.
She shakes her head, her sobs too many for her stomach and chest to cope with, turning into hiccups. 1
“It’s okay… take your time. Rosa, I can’t help if you don’t tell me..”
she takes a deep breathe in, trying to calm her own sobs. Such a strong young female.
“I…I went to the border to see if Dad was there..” She keeps her eyes down, not daring to look at her brother. I had a strong feeling she wasn’t meant to be venturing off central pack land.
“He left his watch…” she continues, only looking at Hector. Her hands reach for her ripped cardigan pocket, her hands trembling as she presents the watch Nausea washes over me as I notice cuts and bruising on her knuckles. My eyes running over her appearance, her cardigan was ripped and so was her dress at the hem.
She continues to cradle herself, as bruises start to develop in deeper colour around her throat and on her legs. I can’t see her thighs but I have a feeling they are covered in bruising too.
The men haven’t noticed, but alarm bells are starting to ring out in my head.
“He always says it’s bad luck to leave the house without it. I couldn’t find Dad…then I felt his eyes on me. His command.”
“Hector…” I try to grab his attention, to pull him aside to not push this girl any further. She’s been through hell and she needs a doctor before anything else.
“Whose?” Hector asks softly, Riley now pacing the floor, his friends trying to calm him down as he bends over looking as if he himself was going to vomit.
Rosa makes the mistake at looking at her own brother who was pale, starting to make retching noises. I think perhaps he also now knew.
“Rosa… Rosa I need you to look at me. Very good. Now whose command did you feel?”
“Hector…” I whisper but add authority to my tone, forcing him to turn around and look at me. His eyes lock onto mine before moving past me and on to Riley.
He looks back at Rosa, his eyes trailing up her clothes, looking at her ripped clothing.
It’s impactful, his aura, as it starts to spread around the room.
“It was my mate.”
