Connor let out a frustrated sigh. “This isn’t working. There has to be a way out. Maybe there’s some kind of mechanism we’re missing.”

So they tried everything else they could think of. They pressed every stone at the bottom of the pool, hoping to trigger a hidden switch or lever—anything. But nothing happened.

Two exhausting hours slipped by. They’d been diving up and down so many times their arms and legs felt like lead.

That was when she spotted something at the very edge of the pool—a thin, almost invisible measuring line. It was there to show the water level.

Right now, the water was at the two-meter mark. The pool itself was three meters deep.

Suddenly, it hit her.

“It’s not twenty-three,” Chloe said, sitting up straight. “It’s two point three. When the water level hits exactly two point three meters, the pressure should trigger the mechanism above. That’s the only time the stone will move.”

Connor stared at her, clearly impressed. “How do you even know this stuff?”
