Hearing the names Pax and Eve, Connor's eyes darkened a bit. "I'll head in right now," he said, just as the butler took his leave. Chloe was caught off guard too. "Wasn't Eve supposed to be overseas?" she asked, puzzled.

It hadn't been long since Eve had sent a provocative message to Diana, leading to a car accident that cost Diana her leg. The whole Gilbert family was in an uproar, almost demanding Eve to pay with a leg of her own. Connor had been the one to smooth things over back then.

Chloe and Connor made their way into the main house. Claire and Kent were relaxing in the living room, sipping tea. Hearing footsteps, Claire looked up at the pair. "Back already? Kent came by today to propose a marriage between Pax and Eve. As Pax's uncle, what do you think?"

Connor replied steadily, "Does Pax agree to this?" Claire nodded, "It's a major decision for him, of course we talked it over. He's on board."

Chloe was taken aback. How could Pax be okay with this? She asked, "And what about Eve? Is she on board too?" Chloe knew Eve had always had a thing for Connor. How could she agree to marry Pax?

Kent cut a glance at Chloe, his tone sharp, "I'll handle my daughter's marriage. No need for Ms. Chloe to worry. In marriage, it's the parents' call. Outsiders should keep their opinions to themselves."

Kent clearly wasn't fond of Chloe. In his eyes, Connor was the perfect match for Eve. Connor frowned, "I'll have a chat with him." Without wasting time, he called Pax, surprised to find out Pax was home. This was Marian and Jeffrey's main house, not their personal space, but everyone had their rooms here.
