Connor smirked, “Sis, no need to be so careful. You're the one who’s ended up in a mess. I just came by to set the record straight.”

Claire didn’t say a word, just waited for him to continue. She was really curious about how Connor had figured it all out and how he’d managed to unravel her plans.

“If I’m right, the drug you guys used was extracted from flowers like ylang-ylang, lilies, and night-blooming jasmine, which have a sort of seductive effect. The drug doesn’t kick in immediately; it builds up over time, and when it does, it causes hallucinations, making the person see their lover in whoever’s in front of them, and they willingly get close. But since it’s made from natural plant components, it metabolizes fast, leaving no trace. So, no one would suspect the victims were drugged, and even hospital tests wouldn’t find anything.”

Chloe went on, “But the downside of this drug is its unique scent, which most people wouldn’t notice. But the wine Diana splashed on Pax and the scent from the jewelry box she gave me smelled the same, so I knew something was fishy.”

Chloe chuckled, “I wouldn’t have figured it out if it weren’t for that little detail.”

“My feud with the Gilbert family is no secret. Who would believe she’d act for me, or that I’d scheme against my own brother and daughter-in-law?”

Claire scoffed, “The Nagel and Sartori families have been allies for ages, and a marriage alliance is only beneficial. Why would I risk the reputations of both families on something so reckless?”
