William looked at Sally with some fascination. She hadn't seen him like that in years. Sally smiled brighter.
"Do I look good?"
She asked like a shy little girl.
William nodded. But he soon realized that he was being frivolous. He hurriedly lowered his head and didn't dare to look into Sally's eyes. But Sally was quite content.
"Get up and freshen up. I'll make you some food. Right, Nicole and the others may come later. Please give me a hand. Well, you know Nicole, right? She brought you out yesterday. She is Xander's daughter, and your niece."
Sally knew that William hadn't been in contact with the Don family for years, so he didn't know much about Nicole. Nicole brought him out yesterday, but Sally thought William didn't recognize Nicole.
But William actually knew.
"I know who she is. She's the child of my brother Xander and your sister Audrey. But she doesn't look much like them."
Sally was stunned and then explained, "Nicole had an accident before. She had a face-lift. She looked a lot like them before the surgery. You can take a look at her previous photos."
"Alright."
William paused and was thinking about the accident mentioned. But he didn't ask. He just pondered in his heart.
Sally then left the room.
William heaved a sigh of relief. He couldn't keep calm in front of Sally.
After Sally left, William tidied himself up. He was still wearing the same clothes as yesterday. But compared with what had happened to him in the cellar, he was now content.
Time and circumstance could change everything and dilute everything. Now William had none of the arrogance of his youth. He was more mature now and less talkative.
Nicole didn't sleep very well. If Samuel didn't stopped her, she would have come to see William in this evening.
It was morning. Nicole heard a noise in Sally's room and she quickly ran over.
She was a little nervous, and her hands were sweating.
Samuel was amused, and then knocked on the door.
William was nervous. He told himself that he was free now, and he needed to adapt to the current society and the world.
William prepared and finally said, "Come in."
His heart was beating fast. When he saw Nicole and Samuel, his nervousness and anxiety vanished at once.
"It's you. Good morning."
William greeted them.
Nicole was stunned.
When she saw William last night, he was in a mess. She couldn't even tell what William looked like. But now, William was cleaned up by Sally. He looked exactly the same as the photo Nicole saw before.
Being in the darkness for too long made his face pale and sick. His hair was grey. He looked so different from ordinary people.
Nicole choked with sobs.
"William, your hair..."
Sally had cut his hair, but looking at the color of his hair, Nicole still felt sad.
William didn't care, "It's fine. I'm still alive. Nothing would be a problem."
He was OK with that, but Nicole felt even worse.
Nicole ran over and hugged William, crying and shouting, "Uncle William!"
She didn't know what to say.
Back then, Nicole wasn't born. She didn't know what happened to William. Her words of sympathy didn't come from her heart. This person in front of her was her uncle, a dead ringer for his father.
Nicole had never seen her father, so she felt very close to William.
Actually, the four brothers of the Don family looked quite similar, but Xander and William were cuter. Moreover, they had the makings of scholars, while Mark and Jason were tougher, which may having something to do with their experiences in the military.
Nicole's feelings for William were special, carrying her longing and expectation for her father. Now, she was just excited.
William was also a little excited.
Xander's daughter was now a grown woman. But he had no future.
William patted Nicole's shoulder and whispered, "Xander will be jealous if he sees you like this."
Nicole was stunned, then she choked up and said, "I have never seen my father."
She briefly told William about her experiences.
William felt sorry for her.
"It's really hard for you. Your name is Nicole Bush, right? Why isn't your last name Don?"
Nicole didn't know how to explain.
Samuel whispered, "William, we are used to calling her that."
"That's fine, as long as you're happy."
William felt complicated. After so many years, Xander and his mother had gone. Things were totally different.
He sighed. Nicole asked, "William, the person who trapped you in the cellar is the king of Country F, right?"
