She didn't know much about the military compound, but since Phoenix said so, she believed it.

"Why do you borrow the private plane?"

Phoenix paused for a moment and said, "I need to go to the neighboring city to help Davon. I can't tell you what the mission is about. I'm sorry."

Nicole thought perhaps it had something to do with the military compound, and that Davon asked Phoenix for help.

So she stopped asking.

Phoenix let out a sigh of relief.

Hiding it from Nicole wasn't easy. But she was pregnant with her mind entirely on her baby. Plus, she believed in Phoenix. That was why Phoenix managed to deceive her.
