Cara was pushed hard and almost fell onto the floor, but was held in time by the waiter.
She turned around and looked at Cynthia, a little annoyed, and then she heard Cynthia say, "What are you looking at? If you don't want to pay for me, I'll call Laurence. I'm sure he will take good care of me."
Hearing this, Cara remembered everything that Laurence had been through. She seemed to once again see Laurence standing in the yard and being whipped by Cynthia.
Laurence had an obligation to raise them because of Adela.
Thinking of this, Cara felt so uncomfortable. She didn't want Laurence to know Cynthia's existence, and to disturb him, so she took a deep breath and followed the waiter to pay the bill.
"What a bitch! Only this way can make you listen to me, right?"
Cynthia swore with a frown on her face.
"How could a mean woman like you have such a kind daughter-in-law? It's a misfortune for her."
"What are you talking about? It's none of your business! Give me my dress."
Cynthia took her dress over.
She packed her dress directly without giving Cara a second look.
After Cara paid the bill, there was only some change left on the card.
She let out a sigh and put the bank card back in her purse. Then she heard Cynthia say, "I have nowhere to stay. Tell Laurence to arrange a place for me, or he can pay for my stay in a hotel."
"Which hotel?"
"Blue Sky Grand Hotel."
Cynthia's words suddenly made Cara frown.
Blue Sky Grand Hotel was a five-star hotel. It was easy for her to say since she was not the one to pay.
"Mrs. Miller, Laurence is not rich. He barely earns much money a month. You have taken his house, what else do you want to take now? Even if Laurence owes Adela, you have no right to torture him like this."
Cara really couldn't stand Cynthia's behavior.
Moreover, Cara knew how Cynthia left Seapolis City back then. She could just give Nicole a call and ask Mr. Green a favor to have Cynthia thrown out of town again.
As long as Laurence didn't know, there was nothing Cynthia could do about it.
Laurence owed Cynthia, but she did not.
Cynthia sneered and said, "I torture him? What about he asked Samuel and Nicole to chase me out of Seapolis City? He promised my daughter that he would take care of me, so what? It's been less than a year since my daughter passed away, and now you want to break your promise? It's fine if you don't let me stay in a hotel. Give me a million and I'll leave. I promise I will never show up again."
Cara was amused by her wishful thinking.
"One million? Why should I give you one million?"
"Don't you like Laurence? You bought me a 100,000 dress, one million is not difficult for you, right? If you want to be with him, give me the money. Otherwise, your life won't be easy. Trust me."
Cynthia said fiercely.
Thinking of what she had done to Laurence, Cara was furious.
"Do you think I spent 100,000 on you because of Laurence?"
"Otherwise?"
Cynthia asked and rolled her eyes.
Cara said word by word, "I paid for you not because I owe you, but because I don't want to upset Ms. Sally, and bring myself unnecessary trouble. But now I regret it. It's my money, so I will just take the dress."
After saying that, Cara snatched the dress from Cynthia's hand and gave it to the lady opposite.
"Madam, I'm sorry, this dress is for you."
Cara said and thrust the dress into the lady's arms.
Cynthia trembled with anger. She raised her hand and was going to slap Cara's face.
"You bit*h, I'm going to kill you!"
Cara was not the same person as before.
During the days of special training on the island, her body had formed a natural reaction. When Cynthia was about to hit her, she had subconsciously fought back.
Cynthia was kicked out by Cara and fell to the ground.
She hadn't realized it until she felt the pain.
The woman who used to be obedient now dared to beat her in the street.
Cynthia immediately cried out.
"Somebody help, this woman stole my daughter's husband, and now she is beating me. How could she do this to me."
Cynthia immediately stood up.
"I owe Adela. I will take care of your daily life, but I can't satisfy your extravagance. It's been almost a year since Adela died. How could I cheat on her? The house I bought was acquired because of you. Am I the reason you're homeless? Now how do you get to insult Cara?"
Laurence's few words instantly made everyone understand the truth.
"So her daughter has already passed away for a year. They are not married. Even if they are married, he can still pursue his happiness after so long."
"That's right. From what I heard, this old lady is extravagant, regardless of whether the young man can afford it or not."
"Besides, he lost his house because of her, how could she say that he was the one who took her house. What kind of person is she?"
People's discussions made Cynthia embarrassed.
She never thought that Laurence would be out of her control. He was a different person now.
"Laurence, the Miller family raised you. Without us, you would have starved to death long ago. This is how you repay my kindness? Even if my daughter died, I'm still your adoptive mother. I raised you for ten years, then you should support me for ten years."
"If you hadn't taken my parents for some genetic experiment, how would I end up being an orphan? You caused my parents' death. If it weren't for Adela, do you think I would talk to you right now?"
Laurence used to consider others, but when he saw Cara being condemned by those people, he felt extremely painful.
It wasn't Cara's business, but she got involved because of him, how could he let her be insulted and criticized?
The people around were stunned again.
They understood the relation between Laurence and Cynthia, so no one helped Cynthia.
Cynthia said angrily, "I don't care. You promised Adela that you would take care of us and treat us like your biological parents. Now that we have nothing, do you take the responsibility or not?"
Laurence frowned.
Cara wanted to stand out, but Laurence was so strong that she wasn't able to move in his arms.
"Laurence, let me out."
Cara's voice was very low. Only the two of them could hear it, but Laurence wasn't moving.
He looked at Cynthia and said coldly, "I can rent a house for you. I can pay the rent and I can also give you 50,000 a month for living expenses. I can even hire a maid for you. That's all I can do for you. But from now on, you have no right to judge my life and the person I want to marry, and you can't hurt her. Otherwise, even if I would break my promise to Adela, I will make you pay."
Cara was astounded by Laurence's words.
Adela had always been his sunshine. He always took Adela's last words to heart. What was going on now?
