Cara realized this immediately.

"Bastard! He told me to pack up and that he would wait for me. How could he break his promise?"

Cara was too anxious to hold her tears.

Nicole hurriedly said, "Cara, calm down."

Nicole shook her head and whispered, "For now, I can't help Laurence at all. But, Cara, you can. Laurence can be saved only with your help. And it won't work if you go with him and get caught with him. Laurence planned this and kept it from you because he was worried that you would get out of control. Cara stiffened again.

"What do you mean?"

"What I'm trying to say is that Laurence has never intended to shut you out. He went into the enemy's place as bait himself and left you the task of rescuing him. Tears welled up in Cara's eyes after she heard what Nicole said.

"Then calm down and listen to me. You're not the old Miss Clint anymore. You are now Laurence's partner and my friend. One day, you may even become the master of the Night Elf Empire.
