“What’s wrong?”

Nicole quickly kept her phone away when Tony walked in. She asked Tony, “How’s Ernesto?”

“His condition is stabilized, but he was a wreck. Was he hurt by the person he loved?”

“Stop being nosy.”

Nicole rolled her eyes and exited the room.

Ernesto was already asleep. He looked pale.

Nicole wasn’t sure how would Ernesto react if he found out Alison’s real identity. She could only pray that things weren’t as bad as she imagined.

Zayn’s wedding went well. He heard about the shooting at night. After some investigations, Zayn found out that Nicole was involved in the shooting. Zayn immediately left his bride and drove to Nicole’s place.

“What happened? I heard you got attacked?”

Nicole was touched to see Zayn here.

“It’s not as bad as you think. It’s alright. Go back. You’re the groom. Why did you even come here?”

Zayn felt worried even if Nicole was smiling and joking with him.

“You’re attacked in my territory. It’s a humiliation to my power. I’ll find out who did this to you.”

“It’s alright, Zayn. I just wanted to find some answers. Trust me. I can do it myself.”

If Nicole and Samuel were the reason for the assassination of Laurence and the kidnapping of Eaton, Zayn better stayed out of it. After all, it would affect the relationship between the two countries.

“Didn’t she go overseas?”

Everyone knew Nicole left. So, Xander was stunned a little after hearing Audrey’s question.

Audrey shook her head and said, “I have a feeling that she’s still in Country F. You told me that Samuel and Tim left earlier, and Nicole left after them. Do you think there’s something we should know but we didn’t? Try and get your friends to look into it for us.”

“It won’t be easy. Plus, I’m retiring soon.”

Xander understood how snobbish humans could be. Relationships between humans could be affected by many different reasons. Once Xander left his position, people were going to start keeping their distance.

Audrey said softly, “But you’re still in the team now. More or less, you’ll get some news anyhow. You can try asking them in a casual conversation. I bet they won’t reject you.”

Looking at Audrey’s attitude, Xander considered a little, then answered Audrey softly, “I’ll try.”

“Let’s try.”

After a while, Xander knew about Eaton’s disappearance. He frowned hard.
