Nicole watched her son cook so skillfully, gaping.

Yasmeen wasn’t shocked. After all, this wasn’t the first time for her to eat the dishes prepared by Lucas.

She held Nicole’s arm and said with a smile, “Mrs. Green, let’s go sit down in the living room. Don’t worry. Lucas is good at cooking.”

“Have you eaten his dishes before?”

“Yeah.’

Nicole felt a bit bitter.

Although she was delighted to see her son and daughter-in-law love each other so much, as Lucas’s mother, how had brought him up, she didn’t know he could cook until now. She had never eaten anything cooked by him before. Hence, she was a bit upset.

“Yasmeen, you should have a daughter with Lucas. A son isn’t so reliable. When he grows up, he will ignore his mother.”

Nicole’s words made Yasmeen blush. She felt sweet in her heart.

“Mrs. Green, Lucas cares a lot about you and Mr. Green. I’m just an experiment rat for him.”

Upon hearing it, Nicole became happier.

“You are such a sweet talker, Yasmeen. I know you are protective of him. If he bullies you in the future, you might shed tears.”

“No, I won’t. Mrs. Green, you’ll protect me, right?”

Yasmeen leaned against Nicole. They looked like a mother and a daughter.

Nicole was quite joyful.

Soon, Lucas finished cooking and served the dishes.

Looking at the dishes that looked and smelt quite good, Samuel and Nicole didn’t remark. Yasmeen directly called Zoe and Joseph downstairs for lunch.

When meeting his parents’ meaningful gazes, Lucas said, “All right. I’ll tell you frankly. I’ve learned to cook quite a long time ago. Isn’t the kitchen in our family Mom’s territory? I only come home occasionally. I can’t occupy her territory, can I?”

“Phew!”

Nicole glared at him and said, “When do you plan to marry Yasmeen? You were too blind to accept her earlier, so I didn’t push you. You both are almost thirty and dating now. When do you want to do it? Your dad and I are looking forward to our grandchildren.”

Lucas didn’t turn her down this time. He answered with a smile, “Please give me the residential record book, Mom.”

“Why? Your residential record isn’t in our book.”

Samuel thought his son was a bit silly.

Lucas’s residential record was in the military region of Capital City. Although he resigned now, the residential record hadn’t been transferred back to his original city. Hence, theoretically, he wasn’t a free man yet.

Lucas also realized it, feeling a bit frustrated.

“Then I must fly to Capital City.”

“You’d better talk to Uncle Morty nicely and bring him some gifts. After all, your relationship with Uncle Morty is different now. You must be polite,” Samuel reminded him in a low voice.

Lucas nodded while listening to him in silence.

After Yasmeen, Zoe, and Joseph came downstairs. They started eating.

Joseph put down his chopsticks after lunch. He said, “Dad, Mom, I want to announce something.”

“Yes?”

Everyone looked over at Joseph, only to find evident dark circles under his eyes. He looked as if he had stayed up the whole night.

“Joseph, didn’t you sleep well last night?”

Nicole was worried.

Joseph nodded. “I want to delay my engagement ceremony.”

Upon hearing it, Yasmeen and Zoe breathed sighs of relief.

“You’re making an accurate decision, Joseph,” Zoe remarked.
