Vespera stared at Carly, who was clinging to Dominic like a lost cub latching onto its mother, and felt a sharp pain building behind her temples. The urge to drag Luke back and beat him senseless was almost overwhelming.

She suppressed her anger and asked Carly in a gentle tone, "Do you have your phone with you? We can call your parents and have them pick you up, alright?"

"Mom told me to follow the cold guy," answered Carly.

Cold guy? Was Carly talking about Luke? The nickname fit, considering his usual cold attitude.

But what really caught Vespera off guard was the mention of Carly's mother. So, Carly wasn't a woman Luke brought back from a gathering. He had already gained her mother's approval? If so, outsiders couldn't say anything about it.

Vespera turned toward Dominic, communicating with him in silence.

"Why don't we hand her over to the property management? Let them deal with contacting Luke and getting his new girlfriend out of our hands," suggested Dominic.

"Let's do that then!" Vespera agreed.

They brought Carly down to the lobby and explained the situation to the property manager.

The manager had previously dealt with the whole fiasco involving Luke, who lived on the 20th floor, and Vespera, who lived on the 13th floor. So, his current mood could be summed up in one thought: "These people are always in some kind of mess."

Still, the manager gave Luke a call. On the other end of the line, the latter answered lazily, "Tell my ex-wife to look after her for the time being. I'll pick her up when I'm free."

Then, Luke ended the call and turned off his phone. Vespera stood frozen for a second, staring at the manager in disbelief.

Why couldn't Luke go to hell? Why would he make her look after his new girlfriend? How did he even come up with this idea?

Dominic's eyes darkened as the few of them stood there.

"I want to follow you." Carly, who was being ignored by everyone, ran up behind Dominic and hugged his waist tightly, hiding behind him like a shy child, as there were strangers around her.

After this whole situation, Vespera realized that a person with intellectual disabilities was more terrifying than a lunatic.

Dominic handed Vespera a bottle of water and sat down next to her. Deep in thought, he said, "Even if Mr. Munoz is into weird stuff now, this is a new low."

"Who knows? Maybe after dating a crazy one, normal people just don't cut it for him anymore," said Vespera sarcastically.

Vespera didn't care who Luke dated, but dragging that chaos into her life and pulling Dominic into it too? That crossed a line.

The more she thought about it, the more suspicious she became. She even started to think that Luke trained Carly just to mess with them. Otherwise, how did Carly go straight for Dominic?
