Tessa rubbed her cheek against Grace’s, clearly overjoyed.
“Mom, I just want you to be happy and healthy everyday!”
Grace patted the back of her hand with a warm smile. “That’s all wish for too. As long as you two are doing well, I have nothing more to ask for.”
A flicker passed through Tessa’s eyes, but she said nothing more.
“Well then, Mom, I’m heading out.”
“Alright. You’re all grown up now, I won’t nag. Just be careful when you’re out.”
“Don’t worry.”
As Tessa stepped outside, she paused behind the door, glancing back with a faint smile playing on her lips
“My dear mother… if only you knew your other daughter is lying unconscious right now because of me.
The thought almost made her laugh out loud.
Sometimes she even wondered if Aurora was really Grace’s biological daughter.
But every time that thought crept in, she dismissed it.
After all, Aurora and Grace looked incredibly alike.
Just standing side by side, anyone could tell they were mother and daughter, which only left one possibility to doubt–her own identity.
How else could she explain why Grace was so biased? Why she didn’t inherit any of the good genes?
She looked nothing like Grace, not even in temperament.
And yet, between her and Aurora, Tessa could confidently say Grace still preferred her.
That much, Tessa was absolutely sure of.
Grace noticed her lingering at the door and called out curiously, “What is it, Tessa? Did you forget something?”
“No, Mom,” Tessa replied sweetly. “I was just thinking how lucky I am to have such a wonderful mom like you.”
Grace couldn’t help but chuckle, scolding gently, “Alright, that’s enough sweet talk. Go on now.”
“Okay!” Tessa replied cheerfully.
