Thea regarded her so–called family members before her.

In order to obtain what they desired from her, they didn’t hesitate to devise all sorts of means to smear her and saddle her with blame.

Such behavior was truly unseemly.

She remained entirely unruffled and even offered a kind reminder. “Tsk. I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint you all. These things were bestowed upon me willingly by Grandpa. I have his handwritten letter with me. It’s fine if you want to call the police. Do you need my assistance?

The few of them exchanged glances, complex emotions swirling in their eyes. 

Judging from Thea’s demeanor, it didn’t seem as if she was lying

Duncan nodded in agreement. “I think Emmalie is right. Thea, don’t be so self–centered”

She had come to realize that reasoning with these people was a futile endeavor.

Since she was already deemed a villain in their eyes, she might as well play the part to the hilt.

Seeing how brazen she was, Duncan was momentarily at a loss for words.

Thea couldn’t be bothered to waste any more time on these two and shifted her gaze to Max. “Perhaps, Max, you’d like to have a chat with me alone?”

Among the three, Max was in the foulest mood.

Back in the day, it was Joshua who overrode all objections and placed him, a young man who hadn’t even graduated from university, in the position of chairman of the Rowland Group.

Although later, the two had a falling out due to their differing attitudes towards Thea.

Nevertheless, the fact that Max was Joshua’s chosen successor had been firmly ingrained in everyone’s minds.

Even Max himself held this belief.

So when he learned that there were still ten percent of the shares in Joshua’s possession, he wasn’t overly concerned.

He believed that Joshua would eventually hand them over to him to solidify his position.

To his utter astonishment, before he could await that day, he discovered that Joshua had already given these shares to Thea.

Emmalie was about to say something but, catching sight of Max icy glare, reluctantly walked out.

Duncan felt a pang of sympathy. “It’s okay. In this family, it doesnt have to be Max who calls the shots. Let’s go and tell Mom about this. Mom will surely side with us.”

Duncan pinched her face affectionately. “What are you afraid of Mom has weathered all kinds of storms. I think Max has been a bit indecisive lately. Im worried about having someone like that manage the Rowland Group. Why don’t we let Mom make the decision? She’ll understand what I mean.”

Emmalie grew suspicious. Since when did he have to take calls behind her back?” 

Max would select a suitable candidate from among the young ladies of noble families for an arranged marriage.

At present, she wasn’t willing to have a second girl to divert Duncan’s attention.

After all, if he was preoccupied with other women, how could he still be willing to help her wholeheartedly deal with Thea? Having thought this through, she suddenly sprang out from behind and tapped Duncan on the shoulder.

Duncan was startled. Turning around and seeing her, he smiled helplessly and dotingly. “Emmalie, I’ve got something to handle here. I’ll come over when I’m done.”

Emmalie had no intention of leaving. She stared curiously at his phone. “Duncan, are you chatting with your girlfriend? You actually have a girlfriend. Good for you, you hid it so well.
