Chapter 106 

Hamilton’s eyes narrowed slightly, a hint of suspicion lurking in their depths. Then, a cold chuckle escaped his lips. 

“Giselle told you that?” he asked, finally releasing his grip. 

He bent down to light up a cigarette, taking a deep drag before turning to face Natalia with an expression of indifferent calm. “You believe her just like that?” 

His demeanor remained unchanged, but the air around him seemed to thicken with an icy chill. Clearly, Natalia’s words had struck a nerve. Her lips were a tight line, betraying her effort to remain composed. She hadn’t taken Giselle’s words as gospel truth, but now that she was aware of the situation, she wasn’t about to look the other way. 

“Even if it turns out to be a trap, I accept that!” Natalia stated, her gaze unwavering, showing no sign of backing down. 

Hamilton’s face couldn’t have looked more displeased, and after a long, tense moment, he finally spoke again. “Natalia, do you really have to make such a fuss?” 

Tears began to well up in the corners of Natalia’s eyes as she faced the man before her. 

“Am I the one making a fuss? Hamilton, I just want to know the truth!” 

His heavy gaze enveloped her, his face a mask of cold detachment. “And what will you do with the truth? Natalia, can you change reality?” 

There was anger in Natalia’s eyes but also a hint of vulnerability. That child was his, too. She had to admit it once again. Hamilton was truly heartless. 

“Hamilton, you knew from the beginning, didn’t you?” 

Hamilton took another drag from his cigarette but didn’t answer her question. 

He had his suspicions. 

The fan’s father, despite being emotionally unstable, shouldn’t have resorted to pushing in such a situation. The police had been mediating, and the two parties had never met face to face. Shouldn’t the first reaction upon meeting be to seek a resolution? 

The fact that there was pushing without even an attempt at negotiation was highly suspicious. 

But he hadn’t pursued it. He hadn’t even asked. It was pointless. Even if it was a setup, what 

then? That child was never meant to be. 

Turning his head to look at Natalia, he said, “The matter of the child is over.” 

“It’s not over!” Natalia suddenly erupted with emotion, her voice near hysteria. “Hamilton, that was your child, too!” 

His gaze was cold and distant, and it was a while before he finally spoke. “Did I ever say I 

wanted that child?” 

His eyes settled on Natalia’s face. “Natalia, the moment you accepted the settlement I offered. this matter was over. What, now you want to go back on your word?” 

His voice was so devoid of warmth it could have frozen the air between them. 

Natalia felt a crushing pain in her chest. She thought it was over. She had even been trying to move on. But learning that her child had been lost to malice, she couldn’t get past it. 

Why? 

Why should the woman who had hurt her time and again, who caused her to lose her only child, remain unpunished? 

Because Eveleen was Hamilton’s cherished past, did Natalia deserve to suffer? 

“Yes, I’m going back on it, Hamilton. Keep your mansion. This isn’t over!” 

With that, Natalia turned and walked toward the bedroom, but Hamilton suddenly grabbed her wrist from behind. He frowned at the woman before him. 

In three years, he had never seen Natalia like this. She wasn’t exactly gentle, but she was usually compliant. Even with their recent spats, her defiance was mostly silent. 

“Natalia, you should understand that child should never have existed. Even without any sabotage, I would never have let you have it!” 

She looked at him, her laughter bitter through her tears. “Right, you wouldn’t let me have it. But it should have been our decision, not your precious Eveleen’s! 

Hamilton, it’s true I followed you for money, but I’ve never wronged anyone! How can you demand that I bow down again and again before her? Do I owe her that? Hamilton, she’s your ex, not mine. If you owe her, pay her yourself. Why should I bear this humiliation?” 

With those words, she tried to break free from his hold. 

But Hamilton held fast, his laughter now tinged with a cold indifference that had overtaken even his earlier anger. “Fine then, tell me, how do you plan to settle this with her? Do you have the resources to confront her? Or the ability to outdo her? Natalia, have you forgotten all my warnings?” 

Natalia forced back her tears. 

Hamilton’s stance was clear–he wouldn’t help her. 

She managed a strained smile. “True, I lack the means and the power, but Hamilton, if she harmed my child, I will make her pay, even if it costs me my life! Are you going to come after me for her? Fine, bring it on. I can take it!” 

After speaking, she pulled away from Hamilton’s grasp and entered the bedroom. 

Once inside, she leaned against the door, her strength leaving her. She had braced for

Hamilton’s indifference, but the reality still hurt. 

This man she had been with for three years, the father of her child, had no tenderness for her. She shouldn’t have asked beyond her station. 

Taking a deep breath, she composed herself and went to the bathroom. When she came out, Hamilton was standing by the window, smoking. He looked over at her as she emerged, her emotions now seemingly in check. 

She glanced at Hamilton and said with a sense of finality, “I’m sleeping in the guest room tonight.” 

Hamilton’s eyes narrowed suddenly. “What did you just say?”
