I grasped his wrist, my gaze sharpening. “Mr. Bolton, what’s this about?” 

Carter wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me closer into his embrace. Thankfully, his winter coat was thick, so I couldn’t feel the warmth of his body against mine.
