Chapter 117
“Sorry, I found out by accident too,” he apologized gently, then explained the reason. It all started when Jane posted on Twitter about my hospitalization due to a car accident. He asked for the ward number, planning to visit me today. However, when he arrived at the hospital today, he overheard the nurses chatting about me. Not only was I injured all over, but I also had a miscarriage and unbelievably got discharged the same day.
I pursed my lips slightly. “So you fought with him…”
“We were both upset,” Jack said casually. He glossed over it lightly, then looked at me with gentle eyes. “And you, how have you been these days?”
“It’s hard to say.” I lowered my eyes. “When I used to love him, I looked forward to at happy marriage. Later, when I got pregnant, I hoped every day for the child to come into this world, to become my concern, my only family. But now…”
I smiled bitterly. “I don’t even know what else is worth remembering.”
Everything became meaningless. I placed my right hand on my abdomen. Here, there would never be a child calling me “Mom” anytime soon.
Jack suddenly became serious, parking the car by the roadside. He looked at me intently. “Charlotte, are you ill?“,
I was taken aback for a moment, then realized. I shook my head. “No, I’m just feeling
emotional.”
In just a few days, I had lost too much. Grandpa and my child. They were the most. important people to me.
But Jack was still worried. When we reached my office, after I came down from upstairs carrying a storage box, he helped me put things in the back seat and handed me a meal from the Meccor. “Grab a bite and I’ll take you somewhere.”
“Where to?” I asked.
Jack’s voice was clear. “You’ll know when we get there.”
“First, let me give you this medicine.”
I took out the cream I had obtained from the medical when I returned to the company and handed it to him, pointing to his cheekbones and the corners of his mouth.
Though he didn’t say anything, I suspected the fight with Ryan was ultimately my fault.
Jack smiled with his brows and eyes. “Thanks.
Immediately, he opened the cream and applied it under the mirror.

After wiping, he carefully put the medicine into the storage box in the car.
“No problem.”
He had helped me a lot. Doing this was nothing.
I remembered, during my college days, I loved M the most. Junk food was best for venting negative emotions. Hamburgers, fried chicken, french fries–but not with cola, with hot milk.
After finishing eating and cleaning up the garbage, I found that the car was heading straight towards the outskirts of the city. However, compared to the noise in the city, the outskirts were more peaceful.
I leaned my head against the window, absent–mindedly looking at the scenery outside.
A while later, my face was wet with tears again before I knew it.
I couldn’t let go of that child. What repeatedly troubled me was that, without any accidents, he could have come into this world.
The night was dark. The car entered a mountain road with few vehicles.
It wasn’t until we approached the mountaintop that Jack stopped the car at a scenic overlook. He stopped me when tried to get out. “Wait a sec.”
Then I saw him get out of the car and open the trunk.
Before long, he handed me a long down jacket, men’s, enough to cover me from head to toe. “It’s cold at night with heavy dew, better wear something warm.”
After putting on the clothes, as soon as I got out of the car, I saw the sky full of stars! He leaned against the hood gracefully, somewhat relaxed. “Doesn’t it remind you of the starry sky when we were kids?”
I recalled. “Yes, very much. I haven’t seen such a sky in many years staying in the city.”
