Aurelia's P.O.V.
I lay in bed, my mind never at peace, so I simply left the bedroom and walked across the foyer to the living room without turning on the lights.
As a consequence, I had only taken a few steps when I saw red sparks flickering in the darkness. It was only then that I belatedly noticed that there seemed to be a faint smell of smoke in the air.
My footsteps stopped for a moment, and I gave a tentative cry, "Lukas!"
Lukas hummed slightly.
My heart suddenly jumped into my chest and I tried my best to act as if nothing had happened. "Why aren't you turning on your lights?"
Who are you trying to scare to death by smoking in the living room with the lights off?
Lukas was silent for a moment and then spoke slowly.
He must have smoked a lot and his voice was hoarse, "If you want, I'll turn on the floor lamp for you!"
I heard that he was about to turn on the light and said hastily, "Don't turn on the light!"
Maybe there are some words you cannot say when the lights are lit.
Since Lukas is also home, I have no plans to do any more work alone.
I could clearly feel that Lukas seemed to be looking at me, even though I was in the dark.
On top of that, he didn't seem to be in a very good mood.
I pursed my lips and took a deep breath of air. "Lukas, can I ask you a question?" I asked.
Lukas hummed, sounding hoarse and a little too sexy for his own good. "Go ahead!"
My mouth moved, and it took me a long time to find the words. "Why did you help me? I can't figure it out. Why are you always so nice to me?"
Lukas seemed to have put out the cigarette that was in his hand, and the only spark in the darkness went out.
His tone was very calm. "I don't want to see you being bullied by others all the time!"
I frowned, thinking about what he had heard today, he looked a little worse for wear. "Is it that simple?"
Lukas asked me back, "What else?"
When I heard his tone, I seemed to be able to imagine that he had a frown on his face.
