Kennedy’s face changed color, and he quickly asked his wife to bring his raincoat.

“Ms. Schneider, I’ll go check first, you guys sit here for a while.”

Seeing the serious look on Kennedy’s face, Briana nodded, “Yes, Mr. Stapleton, be careful.”

Kennedy didn’t say anything else, he picked up his raincoat, put it on, and left with the person who had arrived.

Briana and her group had originally planned to return when the rain lightened up, but unexpectedly, the rain didn’t stop all night, and Kennedy didn’t come back either.

On the other hand, the news of the downpour in Vertown also topped the trending list.

After a whole night of rain, many people in Vertown woke up in the morning to find that the accumulated water on the roads was already half a meter high. Both the subway and buses had stopped running, and the entire city was paralyzed.

The moment Maxim saw the message, he immediately called Briana, but it was constantly in a state of being turned off.

His eyes grew cold as he called Rayan into his office, “Prepare a helicopter, I’m going to Vertown.”

Shock flashed in Rayan’s eyes as he said, “Mr. Yoder, it’s still storming in Vertown. I heard that several landslides have already occurred in some places. Going to Vertown is very dangerous!”

Maxim looked at him with a cold expression, saying icily, “You talk too much!”

“Get ready immediately, don’t make me say it a third time!”

Half an hour later, a helicopter slowly ascended from the rooftop of the Yoder Group, heading towards Vertown.

The few households near the foot of the mountain had already been flooded. Kennedy, along with the villagers, quickly helped them move their important belongings to higher ground. Everyone was solemn.

They had never seen such heavy rain before, nor did they know how long it would last. The dark sky looked like a gaping mouth, as if it wanted to swallow everything.

Briana and the others‘ phones had run out of battery last night. They sat by the window, watching the rain that was as heavy as the night before, with various expressions on their faces.

Charlotte’s face was full of worry as she said, “I wonder how long this rain will last. It won’t flood here, will it?”

Kennedy’s wife, Ingrid, brought over breakfast and said upon hearing his concerns, “You don’t need to worry, our place is on high ground, it won’t get flooded.”

Though she said so, there was also worry in her eyes.

Just as a few people were about to have breakfast, a soaking wet person

“Mr. Stapleton was injured, sister–in–law, you should go check on him.”

“Alright, then you come with me.”

Briana turned back to look at Charlotte and William, and said, “You two stay here, and if anything happens, William, you take extra care of Charlotte.”

William nodded, “Alright, Ms. Schneider, take care.”

Briana didn’t say anything else, she turned around and left with the villagers.

They quickly arrived at Uncle Wang’s house. Kennedy was helping the villagers move things when he accidentally slipped and his leg was

scratched by a branch. The wound was not deep but it was long, continuously oozing fresh blood, which looked very scary.

Hector was handing a first aid kit to Kennedy to treat his wounds. It must have been brought by him, as the villagers would not possibly prepare such a thing.

She walked over to Hector, crouched down in front of him, and said, “Let me do it.”

Hector paused when he saw her, “How did you get here?”
