Vivian glanced at Carson lying on the hospital bed.

She thought, 'This man is stalling for time. The drug he injected into Carson just now must be lethal. If the needle still isn't removed and the drugs flow into Carson's body, Carson will be done for.'

Vivian forcefully shrunk down, took a step forward, and quickly reached out to pull the needle off Carson's hand.

The man seemed to have been angered by Vivian's action. He suddenly grabbed her hair and forcefully pulled her over.

Vivian was frightened. "Who are you?" she asked.

Lying on the bed, Carson was startled awake by her voice.

Carson opened his eyes. Upon observing the situation in the ward clearly, he quickly got up from the bed and rushed over.

"Vivian!" he exclaimed.

He lunged over and tightly gripped the man's neck, but he was easily shaken off by the man.

Carson's previous condition had flared up. He really did not have much strength.

The man seemed to be mocking Carson. He let out a sneer and squinted. Then, he suddenly took out a short knife from his pocket.

"No!" Vivian said as she lunged forward vigorously and grabbed the man's hand with both hands.

The man looked at her grimly and pushed her away forcefully.

Carson's body was weak. Before he collected himself from getting shaken off earlier, he saw a short knife coming toward him.

In the critical moment, Vivian swiftly lunged forward and knocked Carson down with her body.

At the same time, the sharp tip of the knife viciously pierced into Vivian's back.

The man was stunned.

A nurse outside exclaimed, "Can the medication be changed for bed 89?"

Because the face of the murderer who had disguised himself as a doctor was not captured, he couldn't be identified for the time being. Carson could only let the police chief continue finding out the clues.

Vivian came out of the operating theater. Shortly afterward, she regained consciousness.

Carson gripped her hand tightly and kissed it again and again. "Vivian, how can you not cherish your body?" he said. "You want to annoy the hell out of me, huh?"

Vivian forced a pale smile and said, "Because I have feelings for you... How can I just stand by and watch you get hurt?"

Carson stared straight at her and said, "Do you think I won't feel terrible if you get injured? I'd rather be the one getting injured!"

Vivian looked at him, and after a moment, she smiled. "Carson, you're so worried about me, yet you said you didn't have feelings for me," she said.

Carson closed his eyes and let out a deep sigh. Skillfully changing the subject, he said, "You're still in the mood to joke. You're thoughtless."

She stuck out her tongue at him. Then, she suddenly thought of something, and she said guiltily, "But you probably have to go find Grace alone."
