Skylar felt mentally unfettered as well, but when she touched her own neck, it suddenly occurred to her that Tobias previously professed to prefer having her wear her hair loose. She was thus unsure as to how receptive he would be toward the hairstyle that she had right now.

Everyone in the industry knew about her humble beginnings and rags to riches story, but Skylar hated making plays to garner pity.

If not for the deliberate exposé concerning Miranda's role in the breaking up of Thomas' marriage, she would never have delved into her own past in such gory detail.

Just before they wrapped up for the day, she overheard the director say, “Have you tied down the schedule on Saorise's end? I heard that she visited Beskary every year during her schooling days. That reminiscence of youth is something we can really highlight then.”

Seated by the long table, Skylar listened in as she twiddled her fingers absentmindedly.

While other people got to go overseas for vacations every year during their schooling days, she had to ride out from home before dawn to save on transportation.

There really was no comparison between the fortunes of different people.

Skylar chuckled. “Wasn't pinning too much hope on it anyway. I'd be a happy camper just to see it surpass those children's movies, at least.”

Seeing how overtly optimistic she already was, Kate was averse to dealing Skylar another blow. Judging from these subpar results, it may be hard to outdo the children's movies as well.

She had some regrets about letting Skylar sign on for this production. Although the script looked fairly decent when they reviewed it, the incongruous plot development that translated to film had caught her completely off guard.

“You have to make the best of this reality show appearance. Don't let yourself be overshadowed by Saorise, but don't show off either because that could backfire on you. You can be sure that the critics won't have mercy on you,” Kate said.
