Judy didn't stay for dinner since it was evident members of the Ford family didn't regard her as a guest.

Sheldon tried to get her to stay since he didn't want her to leave on an empty stomach. It was the Christmas season. He felt bad that she had to celebrate the holiday alone.

Judy patted his shoulder and assured him, “There's nothing I'm afraid of. I'm already used to being alone after so many years. I'll order some takeout when I get home. Even though it's Christmas, the deliverymen still need to earn some money.”

Allie was standing not far away from them, so she heard their conversation.

He knew she was walking on a thin rope but didn't understand the severity of the feud between Tobias and Marcus.

Most of the resentment stemmed from Marcus and was directed at Tobias.

“My daughter-in-law is pregnant. It's a boy this time.” Claudia's sister, Rose, shared the good news with everyone at the table.

She asked the housekeepers to bring her purse, took out two hundred, and gave it to him.

“I'll let her lack of manners slide. After all, the environment she grew up in wasn't healthy. She might not know any better, but as elders, we do. Pass this to her and tell her there's no need to thank me.”

Tobias didn't reach for the cash. “Mom, you're really trying to disappoint Skylar, aren't you? How could you only give her two hundred?”

Claudia insisted what she said was simply the truth. After all, in her eyes, Skylar came from nothing, so two hundred was already a lot for someone with nothing.

Tobias rummaged through the storage compartment under the armrest for his wallet and opened it. He was satisfied with the thickness of the stack of cash inside.
