Chapter 1000 

Charlie strode in, only realizing after he was inside that he might have been a bit presumptuous “is Kya’s mom home?” he asked. 

Ms. Simmons immediately replied. “No, she’s out taking care of a sick person 

Charlie’s face darkened, “She leaves her own sick daughter 

name of someone else?” 

Ms. Simmons quickly defended. “It’s not like that, really had no choice 

But Charlie didn’t stick around to hear the rest. He stepped into the living room, finding Kya lying on the couch crying. She had a fever and appeared weak, which really tugged at his heartstrings. 

“Kyal” 

Charlie put down the fruit he brought lifted Kya into his arms, Tm here, where do you feel unwell?” 

Kya leaned on him with a wronged expression, tear stains still visible on her face 

Chaletouched her forehead, it was burning hot 

He couldn’t help but feel anxious, “Has she been having a fever the whole time?” 

“No”Ms. Simmons explained. “Kya’s mom said Kya had a fever last night, but it subsided after medication. She was fine this moming, but the fever kicked in again after lunch 

Annoyed. Charlie said. “We need to take her to the hospital 

Ms. Simmons quickly replied. “Kids in the neighborhood had this before, and it was the same recurring fevers. The hospital couldn’t do much, as long as we give her antipyretics on time, it’s fine.” 

Charlie frowned, made a call 

Listening to his conversation, it seemed the doctor’s advice was similar to what Ms. Simmons said. The viral infection had to run its course, fever would last for a few days, and things should clear up after another three days of observation. 

After hanging up, Charlie asked Ms. Simmons, “Did you give kya her fever medication?” 

“did” Ms. Simmons quickly responded. 

Charlie nodded, cuddling Kya he cooed, “The medicine will kick in soon, don’t cry anymore” 

Clinging tightly to him, Kya stopped crying. 

Charlie couldn’t resist kissing her forehead, his voice soft. “Sleep now, you’ll feel better when you wake up 

“Don’t leave Kya’s small hand gripped his shirt. 

Charlie felt a pang in his heart. “I won’t leave. I’ll stay with you.” 

Kya closed her eyes in relief. 

Ms. Simmons chuckled. “Why is Kya so attached to you?” 

Charlie smiled. “Maybe we just have a special bond.” 

“You’re perhaps right! M. Simmons agreed.
