Chapter 1057 

Simone snorted coldly. “She’s not good in nature, what will she look like when she grows up?”

Bennett cleared his throat, ‘Don’t forget, she’s our kid.”

‘She may be our kid, but we didn’t raise her! Simone mocked, “Even a good seed won’t grow right in crappy soil. If she doesn’t love herself, why should we let her drag us down with her?” 

Bennett wanted to say something, but suddenly saw Carmella coming down the stairs, so he stopped talking. Carmella, in her cute pajamas and cuddling her stuffed kitten, looked extremely cheerful, “Hey mom and dad, what are you guys talking about?”

Not wanting to mention Estelle, Simone didn’t say much and, holding Carmella’s hand, asked with a smile, “How’s the studio going?”

‘That’s exactly what I wanted to talk to you guys about!” Carmella sald, gripping Simone’s hand, “My team and I want to participate in this really famous overseas fashion show. But the admission requirements for this exhibition are very high, so some money needs to be invested.”

Simone was taken aback, ‘Do you need funds again?”

“Mom, if our designs make it to the show, we’ll definitely get a lot of attention. All the money we put in will come back, Carmella said excitedly.

In reality, Simone and Bennett had already agreed not to invest any more in Carmella’s studio. They had poured nearly a million dollars into it over the years with no return.

The recent economic situation has deteriorated, and the Macclain family’s business can only barely maintain. Simone wanted to keep some funds on hand for occasional needs. But Estelle’s sudden accident made Simone start to reconsider. They couldn’t count on Estelle anymore, only Carmella. So, they decided to go all in and support Carmella’s venture.

Simone and Bennett exchanged a look, then, gripping Carmella’s hands, Simone sald with a smile, “Alright, just tell me how much you need, I’ll wire it over.”

Carmella hugged Simone, clearly touched. “Mom, you guys are so good to me. I’ll make a lot of money in the future and treat you guys well

Bennett said with a warm smile, “As long as you’re happy, we’re happy.”

Simone added softly, ‘He’s right. You’re all we have. Who else would we support if not you?” 

“Mom!” Carmella leaned into Simone’s shoulder. “I’m so lucky to be your daughter.” 

As she ascended the stairs, her smile faded. She knew Simone and Bennett had wanted to stop funding her studio.
