Chapter 1091
“Emily’s out grabbing breakfast!”
Dr. Martin just finished checking Gina’s blood pressure and temperature. He said in a friendly tone, “You’re recovering well, and in a few more days, you’ll be able to be discharged.”
“Thank you, Dr. Martin” Gina said cheerfully.
“Anytime!” Dr. Martin stood up, sporting a gentle smile. “After Emily gets back from breakfast, ask her to stop by my office. I’ve got some new meds for you. I’ll tell her how to take them.”
“Okay!” Gina nodded enthusiastically.
Dr. Martin’s gaze briefly swept over Charlie before he moved on to examine another patient. Charlie watched Dr. Martin’s retreating figure with amusement. He noticed the doctor seemed a bit wary when he looked his way. Did he have a thing for Emily?
Only when a man fancied a girl did he start getting skittish around other guys around her.
Charlie sneered. Emily’d been back in the country less than a month and already, she had men falling at her feet.
After finishing the examination for another patient, Dr. Martin passed by Gina’s bedside and greeted her before leaving. To his surprise, as he reached the entrance, he encountered Emily, who was returning with breakfast.
A warm smile spread across Dr. Martin’s handsome face. He asked in a friendly tone, “What good stuff did you bring?”
Emily, standing outside the door, replied, “Good morning, Dr. Martin. I got some toast and milk for my mom. And she used to love onion rings, so I got some of those too. Can she have them?”
Dr. Martin nodded with a smile. “She sure can, no problem.”
“That’s great!” Emily beamed, her dimples showing.
“Emily!”
A cold voice echoed from inside the ward. Hearing this voice made Emily nervous and she quickly turned around.
Charlie’s eyes narrowed, a hint of anger in his gaze. “Gina’s hungry. Why are you still dilly-dallying out there?”
Dr. Martin looked at Charlie in surprise, unsure of his relationship with Emily. He spoke to her in a tone as if they were close, but he’d never seen him here before.
Emily felt embarrassed and quickly walked into the ward.
Dr. Martin told her, “By the way, I already told Gina. Come to my office later.”
“Sure!” Emily nodded, and only then did Dr. Martin leave.
