Chapter 1156

On Monday, Emily showed up on time at the James Group building, job application in hand.

Two years ago, she had worked here as well. But coming back now, her feelings were totally different.

Emily took a deep breath and stepped into the building.

At the front desk, she informed the receptionist that she was here for a job interview.

The receptionist looked over her application and smiled politely. “Mr. James has already let us know, you can go straight to HR for your onboarding.”

Emily nodded slightly, then took the elevator to the HR department on the 25th floor.

An HR employee looked over her application and asked, “Have you worked here before?”

Emily smiled softly and replied, “Yes, I interned here before.”

The HR manager curiously asked, “Do you know Mr. James?”

They were puzzled why Charlie would personally instruct them to onboard Emily and even directly assign her as the CEO’s secretary.

Emily just smiled again without saying much.

After filling out her resume, employment contract, and various forms, the HR staff processed her formal employment. They gave her an elevator card and told her to go to the 39th floor to find Tracy, who would help her with her desk arrangement and office supplies.

Emily grabbed her stuff and left.

With her work ID and elevator card in hand, she made her way to the 39th floor.

As the elevator continued to ascend, she felt like she was getting closer and closer to Charlie. She was uneasy, feeling like she was walking into a trap.
