Tracy looked at the lipstick in Waters’ hand, her eyes wide in surprise. “This is a new product, right? I heard the diamonds on the case are real, super expensive. No wonder Ms. Sullivan likes it.” 

Emily replied calmly, “I still have work to do. I’m going to go now.” 

With that, she turned and went back to her desk. 

Charlie glanced at Emily’s retreating figure, then at the lipstick in Waters’ hand, and asked her calmly. “Did you need something?” 

Waters’ face fell slightly. “If I don’t come to you, would you ever come to me?” 

Tracy turned away, giving them some privacy. 

Charlie said, “Let’s go to my office.” 

Waters’ eyes lit up, and she followed Charlie, a spring in her step. 

Tracy watched them go, raising an eyebrow at Emily. “See? Waters is the woman Mr. James really likes? 

Emily bit her lip, her eyes still pure and gentle when she looked up. “So, in every way, I pose no threat to you. You don’t need to see me as an enemy” 

Tracy looked a bit startled, then nodded. “Of course.” 

Emily didn’t say anything more, just lowered her head and got back to work 

Boss’s office 

Waters stood in front of the big desk, leaning forward, one leg cocked, hand supporting her cheek, smiling flirtatiously at Charlie. “I got a haircut. Do you like 17” 

Charlie leaned back in his chair, smiling. Looks good.” 

“Can I invite you to dinner tonight?” 

“Til treat you” Charlie’s smile was dazzling 

Waters’ eyes softened, and she chuckled “Finally noticed my charms. Not going to be cold to me anymore?” 

Charlie leaned on the desk, a smile playing on his lips. “Yes, you’re so beautiful. I’ve been blind for too long. It’s time I woke up.” 

Waters thought he was hinting at something, but she was too excited about his sudden change of attitude to care. Where should we go tonight?” 

“Anywhere you want. As long as you’re happy.” Charlie smiled warmly. 

Waters laughed, her eyes dancing. Tll find a place. After dinner, we can go to a bar for drinks.” 

“Sure” Charlie agreed. 

Waters stood up and moved next to Charlie, leaning on the desk, her body close to his, her lips red her eyes seductive. “Want to kiss me? You can do it 

now” 

Charlie could smell her perfume up close and instinctively frowned, feeling a bit disgusted. He hid his feelings, stepped back, and said with a smile, “1 still have some paperwork to do. Wait for me on the couch.” 

Waters looked a bit disappointed but still managed to smile charmingly. “Alright, I wait for you” 

Charlie picked up some papers, still feeling the perfume that he now found nauseating. He couldn’t help feeling irritated. 

He’d never minded when other women wore perfume. Was something wrong with him? 

Just before leaving work, Emily received a call from Martin. 

Martin’s voice was as gentle and patient as always. “Emily, are you off work yet?”
