Chapter 1307

It was just one night, but the amount of work Emily had to put in to take care of Kya alone was clearly beyond words.

When Emily heard Charlie’s sudden question, she was a bit taken aback, then hesitated before saying, “Tm used to it, I don’t actually find it that hard.”

Charlie said in a low voice, “You have to work during the day and take care of Kya at night You’re going to burn out at this rate You can consider getting a full-time nanny, I’ll cover the cost”

Emily immediately shook her head and said, “No need! I can’t see Kya during the day when I’m at work, so I have to be with her at night. Actually, it’s a lot better

now!”

Charlie took a deep look at her and asked, “When did you and Kya’s father split? Didn’t he step up to his responsibilities as a dad?”

Emily, with a sandwich in her mouth, mumbled, “Can we not talk about him?”

Charlie felt a pang in his heart. He didn’t want to bring up that guy either, but seeing Emily’s reaction, it was clear she hadn’t moved on Was she still in love with the guy?

The atmosphere got a bit awkward, and both of them went silent just quietly eating their meal.

After dinner, Kent brought Charlie’s clothes over.

By the time Ms. Simmons came over, Charlie had changed and was playing with Kya and her blocks.

Watching the two of them happily play. Ms. Simmons had a knowing look on her face

When Emily went to the kitchen to clean up, she followed, saying with a smile, “You go off to work, I’ll clean up.”

Emily gave her a gentle smile and placed the cleaned dishes in the sterilizer.

As Ms. Simmons stood by helping, she whispered, “Emily, Mr. James obviously really likes Kya!”

Emily just nodded in response.

Ms. Simmons laughed, saying, “Mr. James is handsome, rich, and powerful. But most importantly, he adores Kya. This is a rare connection.”

Emily was taken aback. “Me and him?”

Ms. Simmons laughed and asked, “Don’t be shy! It’s perfectly normal to get married with a child nowadays. You should seize the opportunity! Don’t mind me being nesy, I just see how hard it is for you to raise a child alone and hope you can find a good man.”

Emily didn’t know how to explain the complications between her and Charlie

Knowing Ms. Simmons meant well, Emily just smiled softly and said, “Thank you, Msi Simmons”

“You get to work; I’ll take good care of Kya!” said Ms. Simmons, smiling warmly.

Emily nodded, washed her hands, walked over to Kya, squatted down, and whispered, “Mommy’s going to work now; you need to be a good girl and listen to Ms. Simmons.”

Kya looked at Charlie reluctantly and asked, “Is Uncle Charlie leaving too?”

Charlie had the impulsive thought to ask Emily to bring Kya to his office, but he knew how crazy that sounded.

Emily smiled and said, “Yes, Uncle Charlie has to go to work too.”

Kya, full of hope, asked, “So when mommy comes back from work, will Uncle Charlie come home too?”

Charlie picked up Kya, laughing, “If Kya wants me to, I’ll come and visit often, okay?”
