Chapter 1314

Magdalene paused for a beat, turned around, and walked into the room. She plopped down on the couch and stared at Jonathan with a stern face. “Spill, how on earth did you manage to worm your way back into Ella’s life while I was away?”

Jonathan sat across the room, his voice steady and nonchalant. “She’s my wife, wasn’t she?”

Magdalene scoffed, ‘Didn’t you want to divorce her? Weren’t you fed up?”

Jonathan defended, “That was a misunderstanding!”

“No, it wasn’t. You just didn’t trust Ella!” she countered.

Jonathan’s eyes were intense. “That won’t happen again!”

Magdalene scoffed again “Really? If another woman shows up one day and tells you that Ella has ulterior motives, will you abandon her again?”

Jonathan held his gaze and said, “Not

“Men’s words are not to be trusted, only a fool like Ella would believe them!” Magdalene retorted angrily

She tumed her head to Estelle, her face still filled with rage. “What did you promise me? You said you wouldn’t get back with Jonathan or love him again. He sweet talks you a bit, and you just melt?”

Jonathan’s face darkened, and he spoke softly, “I know you’ve been there for Ella these past two years, and it’s not fair to her. Go ahead and take your anger out on me, don’t take it out on Ella!”

“You start to care now?” Magdalene sneered, “Where were you when Ella was bruised and battered, on the verge of death? Where were you when Ella was blind? When Ella was kicked out of J City, where were you then? Manley Scott is far better than you. He has been guarding Ella all this time, giving up everything to follow her. I’d prefer if she ended up with him!”

Jonathan choked up, his eyes filled with sorrow, and he spoke softly. I know I’ve done a lot wrong. You can vent your anger on me in whatever way you want, I

won’t resist!”

Magdalene scoffed bitterly, “What can I do to you? What good does my anger do? All my heartache and anger can’t make Ella stop loving you. Hknow you’re bold because you know she still has feelings for you!”

Estelle looked sorrowful and said to Jonathan, “You should go. I’ll talk to Magdalene.

She had expected Magdalene’s rage. Her hatred for Jonathan over these last few years was even greater than her own!

Especially during her eye treatment, when she was in pain every day, Magdalene and Manley stayed with her all night, often cursing Jonathan!

Like Magdalene, she would rather suffer herself than see another person suffer a bit!

So whether it was Manley not wanting her to get back with Jonathan or Magdalene forbidding her to love Jonathan again, she understood

And she was also prepared to face her anger!

Jonathan, however, was reluctant to leave. “It’s okay, Ms. Sampson can scold me all she wants; I’ll listen!”

“Listen to me!” Estelle said sterly, “Only when she and I have talked it out can she resolve her doubts. Don’t worry, she won’t do anything to me

Jonathan looked deep into her eyes and slowly nodded, saying, “TIl be in the next room if you need me.”

“Okay!” Estelle nodded.
