Chapter 1326
Emily shot Estelle a glare, quickly changing the subject to, “What’s for dinner? I’ll whip it up.”
“Just like old times, Charlie and I will cook, you and Ella can keep an eye on Kya!”
Jonathan stood up, rolling up his sleeves as he looked at Charlie, and said, “Let’s get to it!”
Charlie didn’t say anything, he just followed Jonathan into the kitchen.
Opening the fridge for a look, Jonathan said, “We eat what we have today, no picky eaters allowed.”
Charlie snorted, “As long as you’re not picky, I can eat anything.”
Jonathan nodded, taking out the usable ingredients from the fridge.
There was seafood, onions, and beef, Jonathan planned to make a seafood soup, then onion shrimp and roast beef.
He looked up a seafood soup recipe on his phone, found all the necessary ingredients, and started prepping while asking Charlie, “How far have you and Emily gotten?”
Peeling onions with sleeves rolled up, Charlie responded calmly, “We’re at the point where I can hold back my anger.”
Jonathan chuckled and said, “Emily’s a good catch; don’t push her too hard. If she runs off for another couple of years, you’ll have to wait another couple of years.” Charlie paused in his vegetable washing and said, “If she runs off again, she better not come back!”
Jonathan snorted, “If you care so much, stop playing tough!”
“After what she did to me, you think I’m going to let her off easy?” Charlie sneered.
Jonathan spoke calmly: “You used to just go after the women you liked and cut things off quickly if you didn’t. Why are you dragging things out now? Ever think about why?”
Charlie was taken aback, his gaze was deep.
He placed the peeled onions on a plate, dried his hands, and laughed, saying, “Just focus on your life with Estelle. Don’t worry about me and Emily.”
He wasn’t quite sure what he wanted out of all this.
Jonathan finished chopping the seafood, chuckling. “If Emily wasn’t Ella’s friend, I wouldn’t bother with your love life.”
Charlie frowned. “We’ve been friends for over twenty years, and I can’t even compare to half of Estelle?”
“Dream on!” Jonathan shot him a glance and said, “You’re not even worth one of her hairs!”
Charlie was speechless.
