Chapter 1585

He had just reached the door when he heard Charlie suddenly say, “Forget it, I don’t need it.”

Gavin turned around and asked with a grin, “What’s the beef between you two?”

Charlie was already engrossed in the documents on the table, his face gloomy and silent.

Seeing his bad mood, Gavin stopped joking around and got down to business.

In the afternoon, Emily left the meeting room and received a sudden call from Wilson. She glanced at the name on her phone screen and picked up, “Wilson Walton!”

He chuckled, “I’m calling you about something personal today, so just call me Wilson.”

Emily replied, “What’s up?”

“Some of us who studied abroad are back and we’re planning a get-together. You should join.”

Emily apologized, “Sorry, I’m tied up tonight.”

“Don’t rush to say no!” Wilson interrupted her with a laugh, “Do you know Betty? We were college buddies and went abroad together. She said you guys were pretty tight back then, but lost touch after you came back. It’s her gig. She asked us to find you. I’m just lending a hand.”

“Betty?” Emily sounded surprised, “She’s back too?”

Betty was Emily’s college mate, a year senior to her. When Emily first went abroad, it was Betty, introduced by a teacher, who helped her settle down in Oakdale City. Betty helped her find an apartment and get her enrollment sorted. She was a real lifesaver.

“Right!” Wilson joked, “You can snub me, but you can’t possibly snub Betty’s invite, right?”

Emily had no choice but to agree, she chuckled, “Where’s the party at? I’ll swing by after work.”

“She picked 9th Mansion. I’ll pick you up from your office, it’s on the way!” Wilson said.

“Sure, thanks!” Emily replied with a smile.

“No problem! Get back to work, see you tonight!”

“Sure.”

Not far away, Tracy gave Emily a glance and pondered.

Emily got back to work until it was almost time to knock off. She called Ms. Simmons, told her she would be home late, and asked her to leave Kya with her dad.

Ms. Simmons agreed happily, saying she would leave after Kya’s grandad finished cooking.

After thanking her, Emily hung up, packed up, and prepared to go to the reunion.

Just as she was about to leave, Wilson called to say he was downstairs.

Emily packed her stuff and headed downstairs. A blue Bugatti was parked outside the building. Wilson took off his sunglasses and got out of the car when he saw Emily.

He was dressed in a white shirt and a navy waistcoat, looking rather dashing with a bouquet of pink roses in his hand, attracting a lot of attention. Emily looked at the flowers he handed over, a little surprised, “What’s this for?”

Wilson laughed immediately, “Don’t get the wrong idea. These flowers are for you, but they’re meant for Betty.”

“Huh?” Emily was puzzled.

Wilson explained, “You and Betty haven’t seen each other for a long time, and she’s here especially for you. You’re not going empty-handed, are you?”
