Chapter 1772
After work, Emily hailed a cab to the Royal Mansion. As she entered the familiar compound, a flood of memories came rushing back.
Back then, she lived here. Estelle and Jonathan were upstairs, and Charlie would often drop by. They would chat, share drinks, and play cards together.
During her tough days abroad, she would think back to those times — they warmed her heart and gave her the strength to carry on.
She never regretted meeting Charlie. On the contrary, she cherished the memories they made here.
She reached the thirtieth floor and stood at the door, the memories seeming even more vivid. It felt as if the moment she opened the door, she would see them all lounging on the patio couch, bantering and laughing.
Yet, several years had already passed.
Emily tried the old door code. With a soft beep, the door opened. To her surprise, the code was still the same as it was three years ago.
She stepped inside and stood in the entrance for a while.
Everything inside was arranged exactly as she had left it. Even her favorite tablecloth, faded but spotless, was still there.
The evening sun filtered in through the large windows, casting a soft glow around the room and transporting her back in time.
She walked further into the apartment, a wave of indescribable emotions rolling within her.
Charlie hadn't arrived yet, so Emily sat in the living room for a while. Looking at the guest room she once lived in, she got up and walked over.
As she opened the door, a dozen Lego castles came into view, leaving Emily speechless.
The castles of various sizes were placed on her bed, desk, and the largest one took its place on the carpet.
Under the twilight, the beautiful castles appeared incredibly vivid and magnificent.
