After settling into their routine, one of them worked while the other sketched designs in the study. A simple glance up allowed them to catch each other's gaze, making time pass by slowly yet pleasantly.

On Sunday, Sophia visited Old Mr. Quintin's house. It seemed that Jason's stern talk with Evelyn had its effect, as she hadn't dared to bother Sophia since.

Sophia also didn't bring up the soup incident again.

Come Monday, Sophia started her day at work with a surprise—a large bouquet of flowers awaiting her.

Back in her office, she pulled out the attached card, "Sophia, I'm sorry. I hope we can start over!"

Frowning, Sophia was about to dispose of the flowers when Tina walked in. "Who sent these? They're too beautiful to throw away!" Tina exclaimed.

"They were sent to the wrong person," Sophia replied.

"Then I'll put them in a vase," Tina said with a smile.

"Sure," Sophia responded absentmindedly, turning her attention to the files on her desk.

Around noon, Hugo called. "Sophia, it's Hugo!"

"Hugo!" Sophia greeted him with a light laugh.

"I've finished what I came for and will be leaving J City tomorrow. I've organized a little get-together with some classmates tonight. You should come!" Hugo's voice was warm.

Knowing that Robin would likely be there, Sophia declined. "I don't really know Hugo's classmates, so I'll pass. Next time you're in J City, I'll treat you to dinner."

"How can you not know them? Everyone knows you. Come on, it might be a while before we can gather like this again!"

"I've got a client meeting tonight. It was arranged days ago, so I really can't cancel. But thanks for the invite, Hugo. It's great your business is doing well, and we can always grab a meal some other time."

Hugo really wanted Sophia to come, but her firm stance meant he had to let it go. "Next time, then. You can't bail on me!"

Answering the call, Jasmine frowned. "Aren’t you at work? Why are you calling now?"

"Just missed you," Sophia said, her eyes crinkling with a smile.

Jasmine's face softened into a maternal smile. "Being with Jason really changed you. More considerate, even calling me on your own, and saying you missed me!"

Sophia burst into laughter. "What does that have to do with him?"

"It's all thanks to Jason's good influence!" Jasmine insisted.

"He's away on a business trip, not even here. Calling you was entirely my idea."

"Oh!" Jasmine realized. "So, this isn't about missing me but missing Jason, using me as a distraction."

Sophia's face turned a slight shade of red. "Ms. Jones, keep this up, and you'll lose your darling daughter!"
