Chapter 259
Estelle shook her head, “That’s not what I meant?”
“Hm?” The man frowned.
Estelle’s eyes sparkled, “He might like you, and he’s trying to get your attention by getting on your nerves!”
Jonathan,”
He frowned and raised his hand to pat Estelle on the forehead, “What are you thinking in that little head of yours?”
The next morning, Estelle made an appointment with Norah, found a quiet place, and sent her the audio recordings on her phone.
As Norah listened to the recording, her face gradually turned pale.
Shock, grief, disappointment…all the emotions turned into tears that welled up in her eyes. She wiped them hard and looked out the window.
She didn’t want to cry, not in front of Estelle, but the tears wouldn’t stop flowing. Finally, she couldn’t hold back any longer, covered her face with her hands, and began to sob.
She tried her best to suppress her cries, but her whole body was shaking.
Estelle patted her shoulder soothingly but didn’t know what to say.
After a while, Norah finally controlled her emotions, her eyes were swollen and red. She choked, “I can’t believe he doesn’t love me. The happiness we had together wasn’t fake. Why would he do this?”
Estelle slowly said, “For money.”
Hearing these words, Norah completely broke down. What she needed least was money, but she lost love because of it. She lay on the table, feeling an endless sense of despair and helplessness.
The moment the call connected, Norah controlled her emotions and said calmly, “Nicolas, I want to see you!”
Nicolas‘ voice was gentle, “I’m sorry, Norah, I have to work overtime today, but I’ll try to finish early so we can meet tonight, okay?”
Norah said, “I’m at Steamy Beans Café, I want to see you now, or we should just break up!”
Nicolas immediately became nervous, “What’s wrong? I thought I had explained everything about Leah, are you still upset?”
Norah took a deep breath, “The two of you are always together; how can I feel at ease?”
Nicolas rushed to explain, “I don’t like her at all! And when we went out for dinner, she secretly followed me, I did not know that!”
He made a solemn vow over the phone, “I promise you, after these two months, I’ll quit my job. Meanwhile, I’ll try to avoid her and keep my distance from her during meetings. Trust me, you’re the only person I love!”
