Chapter 38

She was afraid that Noel’s drink might be spiked, so she didn’t dare to swallow any of it. Surprisingly, just holding it in her mouth for a while had an effect on her.

Afraid she would pass out, she didn’t dare take a taxi. Instead, she walked to the small garden across the street, sat down on a bench, and pulled out her phone to call Magdalen.

Her vision was already blurry as she fumbled for her phone. She barely managed to find Magdalen in her contacts list.

Behind her was the noisy singing and dancing, in front the hustle and bustle of cars, and the light above shining on her phone. All of that made Estelle feel dizzy.

However, she didn’t panic and remained calm.

But when she finally called, Magdalen didn’t pick up.

Estelle’s palms started to sweat, gripping her sticky phone. She breathed deeply, trying to stay awake.

After a long time, it was finally answered.

Estelle let out a sigh of relief and immediately said, “I’m in the little garden across from Blue Oasis on Cedar Road. Come find me right now!”

She was already breathless after saying this, and then she hung up the phone and waited in silence, leaning against the chair’s backrest.

Magdalen would come soon!

Meanwhile, Jonathan was sitting in a private room of Midnight Bar, staring at his phone in a daze.

Next to him, Charlie James peeked over and laughed, “Who called you?”

Jonathan wondered if he had picked up the wrong call. Estelle would never talk to him in such a commanding tone. Was she drunk or playing Truth or Dare?

Her voice sounded a bit off.

Jonathan picked up his suit jacket, which was hanging on the armrest, and said quietly, “I have something to deal with. You guys carry on, I’ll leave first.”

Everyone else stood up, asking what’s wrong.

Charlie laughed lazily, “Dude, that’s not cool. You’ve been back for so long but never hung out with us. You finally came today and now want to leave so soon?”

Jonathan smiled, “I really have something to do. You guys just have fun today, put the bill on me!”

Suddenly, a familiar voice resonated from beside her. Estelle initially doubted her own ears, but she slowly lifted her gaze and found herself met with the man’s profound eyes.

His eyes were truly captivating akin to the abyss of the ocean, brimming with stars and tumultuous waves. They enticed you to draw nearer, only to engulf you completely when you least anticipated it.

Estelle was caught off guard, overwhelmed by the burning sensation inside her. Unable to help herself, she bit her lower lip hard to fight against the enemy inside her body, refusing to yield.

However, this scene held a different meaning in Jonathan’s eyes.

The young girl sat with her knees drawn close, her head tilted ever so slightly, appearing immensely captivating under the muted glow. Her cheeks adorned a delicate flush, her lips softly nibbled, and her gaze locked intently onto him….

When he first found her, she was curled up on the bench. He called her twice, but she didn’t answer.

He had no choice but to approach her and squat down to ask what was wrong, only to find her like this!

Was she really drunk?

“Estelle?” Jonathan called her name again, “Are you still awake?”
